Arrow Track Pack Now Available

Hey all I went to the Ford site and rebuilt another GT I do that from time to time to pas the time and I noticed they are now building GTs with the track pack (for the general public). I was messing around to see what would mine had of been had I gotten the track pack and geeeez there is sooo much you can not get insofar as the Ford site with the track pack.

Example you can not get the shaker 1000, or any appearance package. It would let you get the NAV (figure that) since it is almost a 2k option. It would not even let you get the camera. I guess they figure why would you want a camera with a track pack or a shaker 1000 for that matter. My question why would you want a NAV with the track pack if you are going to spend much time at the track?

All in all I am still very pleased with my GT as configured. Just thought I would post here to let you all know especially the Stangers waiting to order until the track pack is available. Good luck and go get em!!!

The Track Pack became available on August 3rd on Premium GT models only. I haven't even seen it listed on their site when I do the "Build Your Own" feature. They must have just updated the site.

Here's a little secret. Your dealer can order one factory-direct, and "customize" things for you by pulling a few strings. For example, I went and talked to a dealer and told them I didn't want all the options on the Premium GT because of not only the extra cost, but additional weight. I told them, "I want a Deluxe GT with the Track Pack, a 5spd, 3.73 gears, and a stripe (also only available on the Premium GT). That's all I want." The sales manager told me he could get me one by putting in a factory-direct order.

When I build my Stang, I want it to be the highest performance Mustang GT I can order, which means the lightest weight with the best of offered goodies. In the end, what I will have is the lightest Mustang I can get, with the best factory suspension I can get, and a Roushcharger mounted on top of the engine for the best factory power I can get...all while keeping a warranty.

I think the reason you cant get the track pack with the appearance pkg and the camera are because the track pack requires the spoiler delete option. No one seems to know why you can't have the spoiler but you just can't.

Besides if the stang is a DD i'm not sure how much advantage there is to the track pack versus just the 3.73 axle package. I'm not sure about you but in reality I'll wont drive my car so aggressive, so often that the suspension upgrades will really matter much. Keep in mind that some days you will not like a rock hard suspension going back and forth to work. Also, I dont really want $400 apiece tires. I know I'll go through a set or two by default so that would be real expensive to replace the track pack tires.

Plus you can't get the glass roof! Dealbreaker.

I didn't realize that I had to get the spoiler-delete option until this morning when I tried to build one, but that's ridiculous. I HATE the new Mustangs without the spoiler. They just "make" the car look complete. Whatever the case, if I order factory-direct, I'll just tell the dealer, "I want the spoiler. There's no reason I can't have a standard item while paying more money." One way or another, when I order my 2010 Track Mustang, I will have a spoiler, and I will also have a Deluxe GT.

I agree totally with you. I never entertained waiting for or getting the track pack I was just passing the information. My Stang too is a daily driver and I will not be driving her that aggressive. I'll need to get 159k+ out of her like I did my ol 93 Fox body.

I order all the Mustangs for a large volume Ford dealership. Been here 10 years. I special order a lot of Mustangs directly from the factory for lots of our customers. We cannot order a Deluxe GT with the TrackPack - the order banks kick the order back for incompatability.

The cost of the TrackPack accounts for the savings of deleting the spoiler, so you're not paying for the spoiler. If the spoiler came with the TrackPack, the TrackPack would cost more.

The sales manager told me that they would have to call Ford directly to "make it happen." If they were feeding me a line, I'll find out when I return to put in my order.

As for getting the spoiler, I drive a hard bargain. I'll get the spoiler.

Ya know!

The sales manager is the person who told me he could do it. If I go to order, put down a deposit, and he comes back and says he can't do it, then I guess he'll be writing me out a check back to me for my deposit.

I agree. I drove a track pack car before ordering a base GT with the 3.73 axle package. The ride seemed harder with the TP, although the handling was better. This will be a DD for me, not a track car or weekend toy, so I passed on the TP for the reasons you mentioned above. Plus I really wanted cloth seats this time around, not available with the TP.

My Mustang GT's going to be a weekend toy, so I don't have an issue with a bit of a stiffer ride.

...And let's not refer to the Track Pack as "TP," for obvious reasons.

Now...if only they'd offer an IRS option....

It is strange that so many options become unavailable when you add the track package, though...

I think they're trying to make the Track Pack the equivalent of what a 1LE Camaro was from 1991-2002, except for Ford is using the Premium instead of just a "stripper" like Chevy did.

I think the whole point of Ford making options unavailable is in effort to keep the weight down, but ironically the only model that can be had with the Track Pack is the Premium, which is pretty much loaded anyway. Lots of options and big, 19 inch wheels don't exactly do much to save weight.

FR3 Handling Pack

I think the best way to do it if you dont want to spend 3K+ to get leather is get a GT Deluxe with the only option being a 3:73 which also gets you better brake pads, then get the FR3 dealer installed at time of purchase if you really think you need it. If you have to have leather, get it after for alot less than 3K and then you also dont have to have all that shiny platic "chrome" all over the inside of your car that comes on the Premium.

Is this correct as it relates to the Track Pack option?
  • 3:73 LS
  • 19" wheels with Pirelli Zero tires
  • Slightly more aggressive brake pads
  • Carbon-fiber clutch plates
  • A strut tower brace

I am looking at one at a local dealer, and the salesman doesn't have a clue what it is. I found the above from the Ford.com site as well as a magazine article.

Another magazine mentioned some different suspension components. Is this true?

The Track Pack also includes some SVT suspension upgrades borrowed from the GT500. The Pirellis on the Track Pack are summer treads, not all-seasons like those on the non-Track Pack 19" wheel options. The stability control is also recalibrated to allow more agressive driving before kicking in.

I read somewhere that there is speculation that the carbon-fiber parts were eliminated from the package before production began, but I have not seen this confirmed anywhere by Ford. Also be aware that there is no spare tire on Track Pack cars as well as mandatory spoiler delete. In addition, some options are not available with Track Pack as Sarge2155 previously mentioned.

Yes, your list is correct except possibly the carbon-fiber parts as I mentioned in my previous post. I also forgot to add dual-piston front brake calipers.

Thanks. I bought the car.

I did negotiate a spare tire. I hate those pumps/tire sealer things. Those are generally worthless unless you have just a small puncture.

The OTD (out the door) price included $4000 in rebates (although its now called 'retail bonus').
