Videos of new Roush Exahust

As mention previously in another thread, I just had installed the Roush catback system on my GT and I am finding the drone very bothersome to me. Probably because I must have a hearing problem. But anyway the drone is bad at 2000 rpm. At idle it is fine and like at 60 mph at 1500 rpm it is fine. But driving around 40 I am topicly around 2000.

I have made 3 videos of the Mustang. The first is when the Mustang was stock exhaust and I compared it to my Z28. The second video is the Roush installed from outside in the driveway. The third one is me driving around a little at various speeds and rpms. If Youtube didn't totaly compress and distort the video (it was long), you can plainly hear the drone at various times. At idle, downshifting, flooring it, the Roush sounds great. Its the steady state sound that is effecting my ears.

You may be able to get rid of the drone with a high flow, catted xpipe.

Another way to alleviate drone is to change your rear gears. This will get you out of the RPM range where the drone is.

On my Saleen S331, it drones from the factory so badly that you can barely carry on a conversation in the cab between 1700-2000rpm...or 55-60 MPH. You know, the MPH most people drive. Many of us installed a 4.56 gear....it gets us out of the "drone zone" rather quickly. I would think on the mustang, a 3.73 gear would do the trick.

Dont feel bad, my magnaflow kit rattles AND drones. When It does drone, I just put it in another gear (its an auto).

I must say that is alot quieter than the interior of my mach 1, at least what I can tell from the video; and I have dynamat on everything. The 2010 exhaust is louder but the interior is much quieter.

I put 4.10s in my 05 and the drone went away on the highway

Well, sadly I have to say I got to take off the Roush exhaust. It sounds great slowing down and at WOT and at idle. But the drone at 2000 RPM is too much for my ears. Most people don't have a problem but my ears are bothering me alot with the sound. I already have some hearing lost from years ago and my ears are much more sensitive to that drone than most people.

So once I remove it I am going to try to sell on Craigslist for about $400. Once I sell the Roush I plan to go with Maganflows. I am really bummed out about this but I got to think about my hearing. 8-(
