Unconsistant Fuel Readings?

As a 2010 owner im noticing unconsistant fuel readings on my v6. The other day I filled up and drove around at the most 40miles. The next day I got in and turned it on and it read 3/4 of a tank left?! That's less than 15 mpg, and I drove mostly on the hwy. Also im noticing that it takes a few miles of driving for the accurate fuel reading to show. Anyone having this problem? Considering I dont FLOOR it and dont go over 2,000 rpms when I step on the gas.

Could there possibly be a problem with the new capless gas feature on the 2010? Its been really hot in SoCal lately and was thinking it could be evaporating from the tank...

Hmmm sounds a little odd, mine goes down almost 1/4 a day and that's with a GT and a lead foot...how many miles you got on it?

You have to remember that its difficult to measure liquid in a moving vehicle. Fuel will shift in the tank which will raise and lower the float depending on where the fuel shifts to. A reading on a gas gauge is not an accurate way to measure fuel mileage. The new capless system could also be causing the gas pump shutoff to trigger early, so the gauge would read full but there was still some more room in the tank.

Well how would you explain other car's accurate fuel readings? My other cars don't have this problem. Even if im babying it will still be off from where it was the day before. Maybe a trip to the Ford Dealer?
