Question 93 8.8 Posi rear into 97???

I could purchase a 93 8.8 Posi rear end (complete including calipers, axles, etc.) with ~110,xxx to 120,xxx miles on it for short money. There is no binding and everything turns smoothly.

1) Will it bolt right in?

2) Recommend a bushing rebuild kit at the least?

3) Anything else I should be wary of??

what is it out of? i ask because from the factory a Mustang would have drum brakes and 4 lug axles that year. and it would also be narrow, although it will bolt in.

Hey BD thanks for the reply! I thought might be the only one reading this forum It's supposedly out of a 1993 Mustang;the attached pic is of the rear end for sale. I see the quad shock on the right hand side and the remains of left hand side as well. Do you think I might be better off just putting a 7.5" TracLok and a set of 3.73 or 3.55 gears in instead?

My take on this. What bd said, and I wwould also add... It will bolt in, but , the 87-93 axles are shorter in length than the 94-04 axles. Not sure by how much. Perhaps this is what bd meant when he said narrow. I am unsure if they make longer axles for the 87-93 stangs. Probably be better to just find an axle from a 94-95. May be too much trouble with the 93.

ya thats what i meant by narrow. i would thing longer axles would stick out of the housing more which is not really desirable.

Thank you guys! I guess maybe the best thing would be to build up the 7.5 since I don't plan on making more than 250 rear wheel horsepower any time soon. If I do go higher sooner then I will have to bite the bullet and get a new 8.8. Do you all agree or do you think I should do something else???
