| | | Locking Gas Cap
Is anyone aware of a locking gas cap made for the 2010 Mustang. I just don't like opening the door and not seeing any security. I wish they would have made an interior release for the gas door.

It actually seems more difficult to tamper with than the previous gas cap design. It's not like someone can just pop the cover open. |

According to my salesman, he has one for my 2010 Shelby. He claims to have fit tested it on another vehicle with the capless fuel filler. I will find out for sure Monday, October 12. |

Just called my dealers parts desk and they are ordering what sounds like a locking cap. It is around $20. It should be in next week so I will let you know if it is the real deal.

I just got back from the dealer and picked up the part. It is a locking gas filler neck plug. Fits perfect. It is part # 8U5Z-9C268-B. I ran that part number on a google search and I could have got it $10 less but by the time you pay shipping and /or handling ??? |

The cap (actually a filler plug) should fit each Mustang with the capless fuel filler.

To me, the $20 spent on the fuel filler plug is cheap insurance. Additionally, both of my Mustangs have wheel locks, and I use security hardware for my license plates. (More info available upon request.) I have a lens over each plate also. Since I work in a secure area and keep both vehicles in the garage when home, I do not have additional alarm systems. |

Doesn't the 2010 stang come with that wheel lock or am I wrong?
And how do you use security hardware for your plates? |

I did not get a security package per se. My dealership installed the locking lugs and returned the four replaced lug nuts to me. From your question, I gather that your GT came with the locks already installed--the way my '03 Cobra did.
As for the security hardware. click the following link: Cruiser Accessories | Welcome to Cruiser Frames Click on "Hardware" at the top. Look at the bottom two items shown. Or, go to your auto supply and ask. They are part # 81330 and 81230. I used the screws with machine threads and self-locking nuts. The other style are shorter and have sheet metal threads with inserts. I drilled and tapped/threaded the license plate location rather than use the nuts. (Instructions for drilling/tapping/treading available upon request.)

Rather than take up space here, I have sent the detailed instructions directly by e-mail. |
