| | 02 Wrx Vs. 94 Mustang Cobra
So I am thinking of making a trade, I am looking at getting a Subaru Impreza Wrx. I dont know very much about them besides they are awd beasts and are pretty quick 4 cylinders. Give me some thoughts please. The reason Im thinking about this trade is so that I could drive the car year round and still have a fun fast sporty car with the room of a 4 door, oh and cup holders

Ya cant beat the performance and year round abilities! I personally dont care for the styling that much...but thats my opinion. I still respect what they can do power wise though. Whats done to your car? Where do you live?
Sounds like you already made your decision |

I live in Huntington, Indiana so I need year round and my car has a good start on performance...
e303 cam
3.73 gears
msd pro billet distributor
flowmaster exhaust
x pipe
ford racing clutch
trick flow streetheat intake
ford racing springs
trailing arms
and i think thats about it im sure i missed a few odds and ends.
I havent quite made my decision but Im leaning towards the WRX I love my cobra styling its a tough choice. Honestly my girl is holding me up from trading because she thinks my cobra "looks" better which I'd have to agree. |

you could probably get a better trade. I mean the 04 STI's are getting cheaper. I would try for one of those. For a base 4 banger WRX you are really trading down |

I wouldn't argue with the old lady about it!
(off topic-Did you hang out in the Fort often? Wasn't sure if I've seen your car or not.) |

But street value on both cars... the trade would be way in this guys favor if the WRX doesn't have a ton of miles on it. Trying to trade a 94 cobra for an 04 STi.... |

I'm sure the WRX's are fun to drive, but...even with a hood scoop and a wing, it still looks like a grandma car. |

I've seen more grandmas in mustangs than WRXs.....
Whats the difference between an STi and base WRX? |

The WRX and STI are night and day difference.
The STI has a stronger 6 spd transmission, faster spool, stiffer stock suspension, stronger block, bigger/stronger brakes, larger intercooler.
Just a bunch of better stuff that will be expensive to try to match with a WRX. |

Clearly....the WRX/STI are more like a 03 GT and a 03 Cobra.
On that note....

I used to have a 94 gt vert that I sold and I bought an 04 STi so I'm a big fan of both.
I was in your same situation, I wanted a car that I could drive year round and not have to worry about the weather. From that perspective it was a good trade. That car was incredible in the rain and snow. I modded it to stage 2, which is approx 350/385 crank. It pulled pretty good and handled and stopped even better, it was a blast to drive. I will say the subaru community is great too.
I no longer have the car though, I got bored with the styling. There also was a lot of hate towards that car, but that had a lot to do with the wing. I swapped it out for a wrx wing and it subsided.
Things to consider, it is a 4 door car. The base rex isn't as raw an STi, so it will be a more "normal" car than your stang. The stang definitely looks better than the wrx. I never had anyone stare and compliment my STi like I had with my stang.
Also, don't expect to be doing many launches with a stock wrx tranny, you could probably manage a few, but it won't be happy with you long term. But start reading up and draw your own conclusions, check out nasioc.com
Ok, I'm rambling, but I will say, to this day I miss my mustang, I wish I never sold it. The suby was fun, I enjoyed my time with it, but I never had the same connection. |

No such thing as "American" cars anymore. The parts made to build cars come from all over the world. |

Yeah, I know, but at least the money comes back here. GM assembles cars in Canada, and Toyota assembles cars here.
