H pipe cost?

I was wondering if i should buy online a H pipe or go to a muffler shop and do a custom one?
I went to Meineke car care and they charge me $212. Is that a good deal or no?
any suggestion where i should go look?

Unless you liked to get raped, stay away from companies like Meineke or Midas. Go to a "mom and pop", "hole in the wall", muffler shop to get a H pipe or have one custom made for you. Better yet, look around at a junkyard or classifieds to find one at less than half the cost you were quoted.

From a performance standpoint, you really don't need a H pipe. Since the V6 has an even firing sequence , it gets no benefit from cylinder scavenging like the V8. Some think it improves the sound however ( I tend to disagree).

I found a 96gt and thats the only one i found in all the junk yards. Are the mufflers built and sound different from a 99-04gt since it i took them from a 96gt or the muffler where built the same.
