Computer Problems... Any ideas??? pics and videos.

Wondering if there were any computer techs on here... I have a dell 9300 laptop that my g/f has been using since i bought my xps 1330... its been working ok untill she said the screen keeps turning off on her. So i have been playing with it and havent been getting anywhere. it looks like its stilol getting output from the video card because when it goes "off" there is just no backlighting... any ideas??? a new lcd is like $140 and its almost not worth doing for such an old huge laptop. Pics and videos here...

Sometimes you can replace that inverter board at the bottom of the lcd and that'll fix it...Sometimes you need to replace that and the lcd as well.

The last one I had that did that, I tested the voltage out of the inverter and it started working. Just be careful not to shock yourself. It doesn't feel that good...

Pick up a dell vostro or inspiron 1526 off of ebay, they are cheap and good computers. I have both and love them. Just don't pick up an inspiron if your into gaming, everything besides the ram is integrated. The inspiron has a 1080p screen with full hd capability while most vostro's don't. The speakers are better on the vostro. The batteries suck on the inspiron, they only last about 5 hours with the backlight down all the way. The vostro batteries kick ass, 8 hours with the backlight up all the way. the vostro doesn't have an sd card reader while the inspiron does. You have 4 USB ports on each. The inspiron has a firewire port, hd port, ethernet port, sd-video port, external monitor port, two headphone jacks and a mic jack. The vostro had the same minus the hd port and firewire. Overall I like my inspiron because it's light and thin, the vostro is heavier and thick, but upgradable. I'm pretty much 50/50 on them. And they are cheap. Spent around $500 with shipping on the inspiron and about $400 with shipping on the vostro.

Not sure what you are looking to spend, but my old lady just picked up a killer Toshiba at Walmart for $499. I've had it with Dell's, never again.

My mom has had like 3 dell laptops in a row through her company, and two on her own. They last about a year, and then something breaks. I have had this Toshiba for 4 years now, and it runs like the day I got it, and the battery goes about an hour and a half still. The monitor is starting to be a little finicky now. And this laptop gets tossed around and slammed in my flight case all day long. I recommend Toshiba to anybody.
