Shooting mostly Pyrodex; it's more consistent from chamber to chamber than FFFg; and a bunch easier to clean! |
Thanks all for the replies, it's good to hear (read) the good humour and spirit that this forum has. The HD forum I frequent seems less friendly and less witty. Maybe it's my imagination, who knows.
Stangdreamin' at the moment I'm shooting a .22 Kimber Rimfire, here in Aus it's a little harder to get guns and keep 'em. Actually been thinking about doing the shoots to get acredited in "real" guns. I have to do 6 comps at the club in revolver centrefire to be allowed to buy one, well to be endorsed by the club to apply for a permit to acquire one... After those 6 shoots I can do 6 for centrefire semi-auto and them basically shoot whatever, as long as it's sporting shooter legal.
I haven't bothered with the centrefire stuff as rimfire is cheaper and I want to start reloading when I go to the big stuff, and I can't do that we're I'm currently living, plus it's money money money.
I've got my dad's .243 that mum got him for an anniversary gift (secondhand) in 1969, it's a bit sorry but I don't want to let it go. I like the .243 round too, fast, straight. Not too heavy-hitting but for me it's all about accuracy, and I'm sure it hits hard enough lol. I used to sneak that out from under dad's bed when I was about 8 or so and play around with it lol. I knew what I was doing, but I can now see how scary it was for my mum to catch me.
I had fun shooting air pistol, surprised myself too, as they said it was fun but I thought in the back of my mind "yeh right" but it's different, no recoil, all about accuracy and trigger control, and you don't need earplugs, it's more sociable. Also the teeny steel targets are only up to 12m away so there's no long walk out to the targets. Too bad it's on at 7PM and I don't get away from work in time to get to it any more.
