| | | Got some Red
Spent a couple of hours on Sunday customizing the stang. Got the duplicolor kit from Napa $22 and painted the calipers red. Its a real simple process. Jack up front put some jack stands under for safety then remove wheels. I taped up the surrounding area with newspaper and masking tape to avoid mistakes. Used a brush to clean the calipers then used the supplied cleaner spray that comes with the kit. Painted the calipers with my own brush as the supplied one is really small. Let dry for 15 minutes and then applied the second coat. Spent a few minutes cleaning up the wheels since they were off and then remounted them. Repeat the process for the back wheels and your done. Whole process took a couple of hours but I did have a friend helping me doing one side while I did the other.
I used a torque wrench set to 80 ft lbs when mounting the wheels. My car did not come with a owners manual so I dont know what the proper setting is. Am I in the ballpark at 80 ft lbs?
Am very happy with the results and helps differentiate my stang from the hundreds of rentals on Maui roads everyday!

Looks good!
I torque my wheels at 100 ft lbs which I believe is also the factory recommendation. |

NICE !! I did the spray on variation after I couldn't find the brush-on type. Will look a little harder for brush-on to do the other car as the spray on was a little messy and a pain in the rear. I too did red on the silver car, thinking yellow or blue for the black car. |

My vipertruck is black and came from the factory with red calipers. Red, yellow or blue would look great IMO on a black car.
Cave, thanks for the 100 ft lbs tip.

til they're tight ..............lol - even on my red vert, the red calipers look good, but obviously don't 'pop' with a different color car |

Looks really good
I've had the brush on kit (gloss black) to do mine since mid Sept, but haven't had the time to do it and let the car sit for them to cure! I've had some reason to drive it everyday! I'm going with black as to not have them stand out, but be able to look much nicer than the dull and very easy to get dirty raw caliper. |

Black would look awesome on your car................there was a cure time? WTF...oops.... LOL
I did it around noon, was certainly dry by sunset when I gave my gf her first ride in my car. Then I parked it for 24 hours. Seems fine now. Kit came with way too much paint for our sized calipers. I could do another mustang......hardly used half of the can.

I wanna paint my calipers too. Probably gonna just do black. What other colors you guys think would pop or look good on a grabber orange pony with black rims |

Black would blend nicely. No way red thats for sure. I wonder if you could get that orange color? Might look awesome......or be too much and cheesy. Not sure.
Black for sure would be trick.
I went over to the home depot today and walking back to my car across the parking lot ( I always park way the hell out to avoid door dings) with the sun shining brightly......man those red calipers are the sh#t on my car. It looks so much better than stock. Love it!

The painted calipers really pop with custom wheels, adds to the look, but everyone has an opinion on color. monochrome look or contrast. |

Only other color I could honestly think of would be silver, but that won't pop, but would keep the calipers looking nice and new for quite sometime | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
