| | | Got $100 for my B-day what do I get?
Just like the title says, if I can I'd like to get something for the Mustang but dunno what.
I was thinking either an UCA from J&M or with a little extra put in CDC Taillight sequential harnesses.
Anything else that goes for around that price I can look into? |

Floormats.
No, seriously, floormats. I've got the black GT logo mats from AM.
Little things for the cockpit make a world of difference. |

Hey now the magnetic panel rocks!
I got one. Sounds like there isn't a whole lot of performance stuff for 100 bucks unless used of course. I may have to hunt around for deals then. |

Not really. Fortunately mine went on real smooth so you can't even tell it's magnetic and it was only about 30 bucks. If you steal that you gotta be desperate because it isn't worth a whole lot. If you steal that and you have a black car then you're a dumbass and will probably get run over by a truck at some point in life probably while doing stuff that's just as dumb. |

Unless you install it backward, then you'll have the HP of a Prius
As far as real performance items, yeah, $100 won't get much.
It could get you some small suspension bits like the UCA, or some nice dress up items. I like the idea of the CDC sequentials too...I'll be getting a set soon. |

Why don't you spend just a little more and pick yourself up a set of Underdrive Pullies? At least it'll be performance you can feel....and it'll increase your mileage a little too.
You can get them through Summit like I did for about $160. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-C2512/

I drive one for work and it does the job nicely especially when I have to creep up on someone (I work for the government and I am a civil service processor).
The UCA was high on my lists of things to do however the Watts link may have ruined that idea because it's in the way. It would be a whole week-end with help just trying to get the thing off and installing the UCA I can't really afford the downtime. Quote:

1. I have yet to see a Modular overheat with under drive pulleys. It may have been an issue with the old Fox Body cars, but the S197's with their more modern cooling system and generous radiator surface area doesn't seem to suffer at all from this. Besides, if worse comes to worse, you could always swap out your stock 192-deg thermostat for a 180-deg one.
Look at it this way. I'm running under drive pulleys, a pair of 10" electric fans and an electric water pump on my 5.4L hauling nearly a 6,500lb vehicle weight around on a daily basis and my truck never moves out of normal operating temperature. Hell, my fans hardly ever even kick on.
2. Unlike OHV engines, Modular engines are "internally balanced". Lightening up weight at either end of the crank shaft isn't going to throw a wrench into the mix one way or another. As long as said weight is neutral balanced, there won't be a problem.
This is also why the 4.6L, 5.4L an even the 6.8L have all used the same harmonic dampener over the years. |

It would be pretty pimp to have the engine spin like crazy....
Maybe adding a 5.0L stroker later and that C&L intake manifold with a nice tune would make a killer N/A motor. Just pondering...
Thanks for the info I'll look into that. |

Thanks for the info I'll look into that. | It would be a cool set up, but I wouldn’t lengthen the stroke of an engine I was intending to be a “screamer”. Lengthening the rod increases the work and time it takes for one complete revolution of the engine. Increasing the displacement by widening the bore is the way you want to do it. Which unfortunately is limited with our close bore spacing. |

Still fun no less.
I may just have to add some boost to the setup or better swap in the new 5.0L when it comes out as a crate engine from Ford Racing. I wonder what will be interchangeable with the 4.6L. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
