SCT tuner info.

Hello all.

I'd just like to say that I'm very happy with this product. It not only met my expectations which are very high but it left me with a feeling of future.

I have the factory airbox with a K&N drop in. When selecting my tune it asks what CAI you have and it lists em all. Like 10 different companies. Which means that SCT took the time to test each CAI and see what timing and fuel settings worked best on each.

Thats impressive. And honestly at first I thought it was all bull****. I figured that every CAI kit has the same damn settings anyway and this is just a jack session.

So I chose the K&N setting even though Im still running the stock airbox with just a drop in.....I figured it would be fine.

It wasn't. At the very top of 2nd gear I heard it ping a tiny bit. Which means that the timing was adjusted a TAD too high and that my airbox REALLY did hold me back.

So I set the settings back to factory airbox and I'm STILL very happy with the chip. My car honestly feels quicker and more responsive.

It made my car more fun to drive and damnit thats the point.

I will be purchasing the JLT intake to go along with it very soon.

But I just wanted to let everyone know that the SCT tuner is a very good product. Good products DESERVE the praise because SO many ****ty ones are out there.

We gearheads have to stick together.

If you think that the stock SCT tunes are good, just wait until you try a good custom tune from someone like Brenspeed or Bama.....

SCT not only makes a great product, but their support is awesome as well. I have an SCT livewire, and when I was having trouble with it not reading DTC codes, I called them. They asked if I had the tuner, a computer with internet access, and the cable with me. I said yes, and they remoted in and updated the firmware in the tuner in 5 minutes. The best part was that I was sitting at a coffee shop with my laptop using their free wifi.....The guys at SCT were GREAT.

As far as your post count goes, only posts in tech count toward your post count....OT posts dont count.

I know the people over at SCT. I work with them in a non automotive related way on a regular basis. My friends there send me picks whenever they get a facny new pony in for testing
and yes they test each config. in their shop on their dyno.
they also take in alot of feedback from dealers what user their tuners.
many times they will upload the current tune to SCT and include the mod list and SCT will then return to them the correct tune. they will often pass the aoftware back and forth several times until teh customers is tuned just the way they want.
all from their updates servers. pretty kool really.
good guys though and a very solid product.

I currently have a SCT from Brenspeed and am planning on adding a CAI. I talked to Brenspeed about meeting smog testing in CA. Their tunes normally turn the rear O2 sensors off so if the testing station uses an OBII scan your car will fail. To pass smog testing you need to order smog testing friendly tunes from Brenspeed.

Weird I thought I called them before and they told me they wouldn't do that.. I know VMP Tuning does tune for emissions. Their order site has an option for that, I thought about getting one of their tunes for when inspection time rolls around so I don't have to mess with reverting everything back to stock.
