Aj's Rebuild

Sorry, guys, for the crazy multiple threads on this rebuild business. I don't know what I was thinking... It will much easier for me to keep track if it's all on one thread....

Let's try this again ...

Cost is the main factor, but I want to make as much power as I can without messing with the stock computer.
________________________________________

I'll start from the top of the engine and work down...

Intake..........

stock MA , TB and upper. The first work will be having Tmoss port the lower.

done..........

Cam & Heads...........

as Per the previous thread, I'm stuck at-
Crane 2031 Cam and worked E7's
-VS-
Trick Flow Cam (Stage 1?) and Twisted Wedge's $1500 ish

Is there a major cost difference between these two plans??

What do Cams usually go for?? $$$$ wise

Thanks for bearing with me, guys!!

I would just go ahead and get the Trick Flow heads and cam. The stock intake is going to hurt you. You can pick up a use Explorer Intake or Cobra Intake for under $200.

While the Trick Flow heads aren't the best, they are light years ahead of the stock E7's.

IIRC the Trick Flow cam is around .499 lift versus the stockers .444-ish???

The stock intake, even ported, won't be the best but it will work for you; until you decide to upgrade

Will there still be restriction even it I get the lower ported?? I'm not sure how much air I will need as I rarely rev high... My powerband should hit around
3k.... I'll be off the peddle by 4k... (I always try to make my engines last..lol)

I need that low end torque...

I'm really torn on the cam / heads deal.... all the hp #'s seem to be the same in the lower rev spectrum....

Maybe not worth the Trick Flow setup for the way I drive...

Yeah, even with the lower ported, it's still going to be too restrictive. It generally costs more money to port the stock intake than to just get another intake.

I think I've already moved beyond the mild build...

Let's call it moderate now....

The TF Street heat kit above seems to end it's application in '93

Has anyone used this kit on our cars? Is it just the elbow adaptor it needs or
is other stuff different??

Yep works on 95 as well. You will need the elbow.Unless you swap to a fox style throttle body.

If you want to keep the brace, you have to get an aftermarket brace. Maximum Motorsports, and Steeda make one. I'm sure a lot of other companies do too.

Got some #'$$$ from a local Performance shop in Lebanon, TN... Delk Performance

Here's the Delk quote... sounds fair to me.

AJ... The rebuild on a .030" over short block is about 1800.00 with a TRW forged piston, file fit plasma*moly* ring, good bearing, machine work, balancing,*stock crank and rods (Complete assembled short block on stand with out cam and lifters). You can go to a cast steel crank,forged*rod,2618 piston,*stroker 331 for about 2500.00. Basic in and out engine labor money is 1000.00. Short block to complete on stand - 450.00ish. Tear down (stock engine for reuse parts)and clean up 200.00*Going to a TFS top end kit will add some labor (300-400)*, but doing it during a engine swap/rebuild helps. Should be about 2 week job. Figure on some gaskets, fluid,ECU chip, tune, oil pan, fasteners,*etc . money
