The Obama administration says new job numbers will show the president's economic stimulus plan has directly created or saved about 650,000 jobs...
New job numbers from businesses, contractors, state and local governments, nonprofit groups and universities were not scheduled to be released publicly until Friday afternoon. But White House economic adviser Jared Bernstein says officials have been told the figures.
When adding in jobs linked to $288 billion in tax cuts, Bernstein says the stimulus plan has created or saved more than 1 million jobs.

Not according to the government's own website for tracking the numbers. 30 per state. BTW, are you really using Fox News as a source? I thought you couldn't trust them, couldn't stand them, and couldn't watch them? Whatever are you doing on their website? |

So, here I am posting stuff from Fox News.
They don't say much about it, which is fine because I only want the facts.
Course I never trusted anything the White House said when Bush was in office. Are we sure we can trust their reports now? They always put spin on everything.
Yes, I actually just said that. |

White House: 650,000 jobs created or saved
New data will show how many jobs the stimulus plan created or saved
The Associated Press
updated 9:55 a.m. CT, Fri., Oct . 30, 2009
WASHINGTON - About 650,000 jobs have been saved or created under President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan, the White House said Friday, saying it is on track to reach the president's goal of 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year.
New job numbers from businesses, contractors, state and local governments, nonprofit groups and universities were scheduled to be released publicly later Friday. White House economic adviser Jared Bernstein said the figures will show that, when adding in jobs linked to $288 billion in tax cuts, the stimulus plan has created or saved more than 1 million jobs.
The data will be posted on recovery.gov, the web site of the independent panel overseeing stimulus spending.
"It's a great example of the unprecedented transparency, where the American taxpayer can point and click and see their taxes creating jobs," Bernstein said.
Government recovery plans — everything from the $787 billion stimulus to tax credits for buying new homes to government deals on new cars — are credited with helping the economy grow again after a record four straight losing quarters.
But the job market has yet to show signs of recovery, putting pressure on the White House to show that the stimulus was worth its hefty price tag.
When it is released Friday, the new data will be the largest and most complete look at how the stimulus money has been spent so far. The White House promised the data would be far more reliable than the first batch of numbers on federal contracts, which the administration initially embraced, then branded a "test run" after thousands of errors were discovered.
Teachers are expected to represent the largest number of jobs in the report. With state budgets in crisis, federal aid helped governors avoid major cuts in education, which officials said spared hundreds of thousands of teachers from the unemployment line. | |

Stimulus creates 640,000 jobs
White House releases first broad look at stimulus-funded employment, focusing on $150 billion in spending.
WASHINGTON (CNNMoney.com) -- The largest stimulus program in the nation's history has created or saved about 640,000 jobs, the Obama administration said Friday.
Based on approximately $150 billion in spending from the $787 billion recovery package, the tally is the first broad, concrete look at the stimulus program's impact on the economy. The numbers are drawn from tens of thousands ofreports from state and local recipients and include as many as 30,000 jobs from private companies.

So, doing the math here (assuming the 640k jobs is correct though anyone with a sane mind knows it's grossly exaggerated...), the total cost per job is $230,769 per job.
Since most of these jobs only pay about 40-50k a year, wouldn't it have been better to have just given 50k to 650,000 people and let them spend it in the local businesses spurting job growth? hell, we just gave them 230k each....
This is just stupid. No other way of putting it. There's NO spin these ******** can put on this that'll make it look any different to anyone with more than 3 brain cells communicating with each other. |

But the stimulus was aimed at doing more than just create jobs. That money is going for things, important things, like reasearching bat dung. Posted via Mobile Device |

Too bad it didn't save my job and hasn't created a new one for me. I am still the unemployed
The white house is calling figuring up how much each "saved" job cost "calculator abuse." But they are applauding themselves for, "unparalleled transparency in reporting job numbers to the public." http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...tor-abuse.html

Major Garrett from "FOX NEWS" asked Robert Gibbs how many jobs were created and how many were saved (not combining them in one number) and he couldn't answer the question. And that's b/c they dont even know the actual numbers themselves.
Most of this money went to pay off special interest groups for helping him get elected. It was not to save American jobs, it was not to start the recovery of the economy. It was going to recover on its own no matter if anything was done or not so knowing that the could actually do nothing to help it and they could still take credit for it and pay off those who they owed
And that is the truth.
