Lock rod Retainer replacement

Has any of you had to replace the lock rod retainer in your door? This is the small, plastic clip that attaches the door lock rod and door release handle rod to the latch.

I had locked my keys in the car and a "locksmith" jimied the lock to open it. Afterwards, the key would no longer open the door (but pulling up on the door lock does). Ive been told I need to replace the lock rod retainer.

Any help with the steps?

There is a small metal bar leading from the lock to the plastic lock retainer, which is clipped on to the lock cylinder itself. If you're lucky, you can just pop the bar back on. If it broke, you're going to need to source one somewhere. I don't have a walkthrough 'cause I just had to do it once.

Advance has a bunch of those lock rod retainers in the HELP isle. They come in one box, and you use the one you need. Not sure if the one for the Mustang is in there though.
