so a guy i work with wrecked his 04 v6 the other day and he just GAVE me his new xcal3. the only problem is that it is vin locked. he didnt put his car back to stock after the wreck. so my question is do i HAVE to send it back to sct to have it unlocked or is there any possible way i or someone eles can do it? thanks for any helps.

If the device is married/locked to the previous vehicle, the only ways to unlock it are to either return the previous vehicle back to stock or send it to SCT to be unlocked. Currently the unlock fee is $150, but see if you can get a hold of some paperwork showing the previous vehicle was a total loss before contacting SCT tech support. They're usually pretty lenient in situations where it is impossible to return the previous vehicle back to stock.
