EFI Conversion on an '83

Hi all,

Looking to revive my college car, a 1983 Mustang Convertible. I put her away almost ten years ago and would now like to get her going again.

The car is a carbureted V6 with over 140,000 miles, oil leaking from pretty much everywhere. I'm figuring to do a complete engine job.

While I'm at it, I was thinking about converting the engine to EFI. So, the big question is, does anyone know if my generation's 3.8 block is the same as the next generation block? Would an EFI system be a bolt-on if I took my original engine down to the block?

I have a line on a 1996 V6, so I was thinking if I could get that one for cheap enough I could swap the EFI system onto my '83 Engine during the rebuild.

I'm sentimental about this car, so I'd like to try and do this upgrade on the original block rather than swap a whole other motor in.

Thanks for any information.

Nick
