Stolen: 2000 Mustang GT...

A guy I know had his heavily modded Camaro SS stolen several weeks ago. They found it a few weeks later stripped...motor and all. Hope yours was just a joyride and they didn't beat it up too much.

This thread is depressing! :(

I would feel like someone stole my baby (I don't have kids) but you know what I mean ... That really sucks. I think that you will get it back .. don't know why but I have that feeling. It sucks you didn't leave your cell phone in the car because you could call it and the cops could trace/track your car (to some degree) .. I think I'm going to set up my car like those bait cars after reading this. :nonono:

People that do **** like this need to get 20 years in prision.

Can you think of anybody that you may have pissed off lately? Or anybody that wants to pull a messed up prank on you? Just throwing stuff out there .. we all know the cops are looking as hard as they can to find it.

Assuming they're cover him. Remember, he left the car in the driveway running with the keys in the ignition. Some companies view that as negligence and may not pay out.

Tell the insurance company you lost your keys were stolen the previous day. I wish someone would steal my Hyundai, then I'd go buy another stang.
This is a good suggestion! Just tell them you had your personal information on the keychain so that if it had gotten lost, someone could return it. I know that's stupid to do...but still!

That sucks, I hope you eventually at least find it.

I've always feared warming my car up and going back inside...never have done it yet...but i was thinking to myself the other day, "who would get inside a car in a neighborhood & drive off". Well guess I never will do that...

That manual remote starter sounds interesting....also an alarm a friend has on his 96 if it goes off it'll page him.

again, good luck :(

Any remote car starter will work as long as it's compatible with the Ford PATS system. The only difference between the Automatic kits and the Standard ones is the addition of a neutral safety switch (won't allow the car to start while its in gear) with the Standard kit.....which can be had for peanuts.

That really sucks I am sorry to hear that I feel your pain. :(
My neighor just got his 05 Acura NSX stolen four days ago
right in his driveway over night. Two days before he just put
a new set of wheels and tires on it too talk about taking a loss. :nonono:
You could put ten alarms on your car if a skilled car theif wants
your car that bad they will get it belive me.
If the police never find your car get a Subaru STI. :nice:

Damn I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. I can't even imagine how I would feel if it happened to me. I let my car warm up that way all the time, but after this thread, I don't think I will anymore.

Words of advice: If it was someone who lives around there, $20 on the street corner may get you some answers. If he's some piece of street trash, just find another piece of trash and ask around. If he's local, SOMEONE else probably knows he did it.

Good luck on getting your car back....I know in sacramento, ca. i have heard about people getting there cars jacked in the morning...its not rare, but not common.

Becuase its cold out, people leave the car alone running to warm up. Well the tweekers (Drug attics), S**t bags, car theifs and punk ass kids know this.

So when they see a cold car running, they will walk up to it and drive off. Most of the time we recover the car in "decent shape". but not always.

I used to work for AAA insurance, they cover that kind of stuff under the "Comp" section. its considered theft. But im not sure how things work in your city/state and with your ins company.

Sorry to hear about that man, it sucks BIG time.

Let us know how it turns out.

This is a good suggestion! Just tell them you had your personal information on the keychain so that if it had gotten lost, someone could return it. I know that's stupid to do...but still!

Seriously...its probably too late since you've already filed the police report and the insurance will check the report.

But to all others.....if you ever have your car stolen while you left it running, just tell the police and insurance you lost your keys the previous day, or earlier that day or something. I'd say...."I lost my keys yesterday, but I thought maybe I left them at work, so I was checking and looking everywhere, next thing I know my car was stolen....guess I didn't lose my keys afterall, someone stole them. Maybe it was someone that knew me, or followed me home to see where I live, that must be how they got my car." Nothing against police, but with low level crimes, they often look for the easiest and simplest solution, and are likely to accept your story.

Why, are they suposed to be harder to steal, or is because very few people want them and don't bother? :D

on the STI, they are harder to steal. There's a chip under the steering column that you can take out and the car will not start w/o it. so i guess theives could put it on a rollback and steal it that way, but driving off with it...can't w/o the chip. (I only know this because a friend has one haha)

as for how SilverBullet00's was stolen though, car was on & unlocked...sti can be stolen that way too. haha....if you're going to suggest the ugly ricer way, get at least an Evo....
