Workout guys: What protein shakes are you taking?

I eat 10lb bags of Optimum Nutrition whey, 4 scoops per day, 1 scoop of Muscle Milk +1 scoop whey after working out; raw eggs beaten with orange juice with breakfast; I take Men's One a Day Multivitamin and Norweigan cod oil with breakfast as well. Don't forget about lots of fresh fruits and vegtables. It also helps to eat a little solid food with your whey to slow it down a bit in your gut, like a piece of bread. Stock up on protien bars to eat when you're hungry and can't get to your whey so you can get your protein when you need it. Don't forget to train like a beast. For inspiration, I recommend the book "How to gain 30lbs in 6 weeks" available on ironmind.com to separate yourself from the typical <200lb gym weenie. Forget the creatine and other 'miracle' stuff, it's a waste of $$. If you use lifting straps, you are a pantywaste!

You know I love ya, but don't talk about Frank Zane that way! ;) He was near 180 in his prime

Muscle Milk is good stuff, LX. I use Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey, best quality:price ratio at $5/lb. or less if I can grab the 10lb. bag.

Ive used Nitro Tech for the longest. Its great for "lean" mass. Got bored of it and its price so now I take Maximum Protien with Amino acid blast. Best tasting protien Ive tried and its reasonably priced.
But for GREAT protien intake eating a can of Tuna fish is 36 grams and is REAL food. So 3-4 cans of those through out your day is actually better then some powders!!

Thanks. Seems like everyone has their own way. Some have told me NOT to use muscle milk. Basically I just started working out last week. I am trying to gain weight and muscle mass. According to the scale at the gym, i've gained over 5lbs in a week. Who know's though. I don't think im getting fatter lol. I was 143 and now im a hair over 148 if the scale is right. I've eliminated drinking beer, fast food and soda. I only been drinking water.

Don't worry much about weight on its own. You can retain so much water in any given day that it can make the scale seem nuts. You can eat a spoonful of sodium more than usual and that'll blow your numbers out of proportion in that respect, for instance. The causes are so vast that it's not worth it to concern yourself with the scale unless you're trying to make a weight class.

I use straps when I do 700lb. rack pulls, call me a pantywaste and I'll drop it on your foot! :rlaugh: But hey, not all of us are a captain of crush! ;)

Don't waste your money on weight gainer powder. Do yourself better and mix your own with whey protein of your choice, raw oats, and peanut butter mixed up in a shake. A good mix will give you 700 calories that you can easily take in, and it's actual food AND cheaper per serving vs. those loaded calorie gainers. Trust me. At your weight, just eat your ass off and lift. Pasta, breads, all the heavy carbs. Pack 'em down and get AT LEAST equal amounts of protein per day. Depending on how your body holds fat, you could get away with having protein and carb calories be equal, or you might hve to take in more protein to offset the % of your daily intake

Just keep your diet and excercise program reasonable...too often people dive in head first with crazed hours in the gym and unrealistic diet restrictions...most often the only thing they accomplish is burnout. Make healthy changes that you can follow daily, still enjoy life and you'll not only see results from your changes but quite likely create a long lasting addiction to the gym and a heathy lifestyle. Just opinion...

Exactly. Getting into a good diet takes alot of prep work and money. This is the hard part! Going to the gym is easy. But just like Nike says, "Just do it"! It will become second nature after doing it for a while.

Hey you asked  ;)

Like I said it's not the end all be all, but the closer you can stick to that, the better results you'll get. Even falling short of reaching the stars will have you higher than a lot of other people, that's what I always say.
