got some work started on the truck today. i have to replace the roof from the infamous pine tree incident, so today i went to the shop and removed all the interior excluding the seats and dash. surgery will begin as soon as i can find a reasonably priced roof clip. i'm hoping to have the old roof off next saturday and have the new one on and finished up by the end of the month.

more progress from this week, the heads are getting finished up and i decided to have the engine gone through. it is all at the shop waiting to be rebuilt.

i also picked up an explorer full length console and a pair of grey leather bucket seats for $50. seats are nasty but i need something b/c the 60/40 bench wont work with the new console and i need the console to mount the B&M quarter stick shifter in! i will eventually end up with some nicer seats (maybe corbeau) after the truck is up and running

My brother swapped a 5.0 HO into a 81 Ranger a year or so ago.

I hope it was newer than that? The only Rangers back then were full size trucks that looked like this....

On a related side note....ironically, the F150 gas mileage didn't get that much better.

The advertised mileage in that brochure is about all I'm able squeeze out of my FX4 for mileage....and that's babying it. :(

Great progress, you're not wasting any time.

Has it actually occurred to you that before too long you're going to be chopping the roof off? haha. It'd definitely take me a minute to pull the trigger on the first cut.

At least you've got a nice shop to work from. :nice:

thanks to a GREAT boss and some good friends i have a nice place to work. i used the shop from my first mechanic job to pull the engine, and the one in the last pics is my current job. the new boss is a really nice guy and really helps me out a lot!!

i feel like i never have any time to work on it. i wait all week for saturday so i can get some time to spend on it!!

cutting the roof really doesnt bother me. it's something that just has to be done.

Well damn, I guess time really has flown by. I didn't realize it was early November when you started this thread.

I'm looking forward to the roof cutting pics. I'm sure it'll come out great.

Just curious....how tall are you man? Ever consider giving the roof a bit of a "chopped look" since you're going to have to replace it anyway....or is that a little more work than you're looking to endure?
