1st off thanks to Voorhees for confirming my 99 performance red vert auto is #339...

Overview of my recent purchase...the car has 78K...the body is in great shape, paint is very good...few minor scratches...do have couple of items of concern...the black vert top needs to be either repaired or replaced but works well, will need tires soon, and the door panel inserts are coming loose on both doors (appears to be a common issue)...the black decal on the hood was removed (due to peeling) and the stripe was painted on and clearcoated...the silver inserts on the doors and seats were redyed charcoal to match the rest of the interior...also, the trunk wing (appears to be the LE correct wing) is painted the same color of black as the hood stripe...did not come with the original floormats or any of the 35th limited edition goodies except the keychain...car did come with the original sticker. I did not expect the car to be perfect and knew these issues prior to purchase...car is now showing the mysterious battery warning light on occaison, but I can work through that...car runs and drives very good (has magnaflow mufflers so it sounds pretty good too). The auto check came out a score of 80 (range of 44-66)...so I felt pretty good about the car...no issues in the history of the car...

Couple of questions...

1) OK I paid $7000...did I do OK or get taken? What is the potential value of this car once I get the items mentioned above sorted out?
2) Should I have the interior pieces redyed the original silver? After reading a few threads on this forum this efforts sounds difficult and potentially expensive...
3) Could the wing have come originally black from the factory? It appears the pics I have seen of the 35th LE the wings are the same color as the car...could have it resprayed if needed...
4) In your opinion, does obtaining the remainder of the 35th LE goods (cds, book, etc) help in the value of the car? I wanted to make sure before I went out and started aquiring the additional goods...
5) Also, if anyone can help me with determining the actual build date, # of perf red verts, etc, this would be helpful as well...

Thanks in adance for any help or advice/opinions...

In my opinion is a decent price for a good running GT. Car could be worth up to at least $8500 in the end, but thats a guess. Cars are horrible investments anyway. Just enjoy it.

If you read the threads by 6T9 Charger, he resprayed all of the silver parts back to the original color(previous owner did a red) His came out great. I think it was worth it too. He also had door panel problems, but worked out a solution for that too....I was impressed.

The wing should be body color...no other way should they be imo. But could live with it until I could get it repainted. I'd work on the interior/top first.

I'd personally work on the car first. Its has the most value. The 35th items are just nice to have.

Terry McCoy can help yo with that(don't have his email) you will get a different build number from him(6T9 Charger did also). Its a long story as to how he gets his info versus mine. I use the list from the old registry and the VINs are in sequence from lowest to highest. They were not always built in VIN sequence, so a higher VIN # may be built before a lower VIN#. Hope I explained this well enough. He wil give you more detailed info.

If my hood stripe came off, I'd have a new one painted on as well. But in a satin black finish , close to the original.

Post some pics up, even in current state.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback guys...good news is that I found out my top can be repaired...the same shop will repair my top (reseal lower rear window section and repair corners) and refit my door panels both for $100.00...will look into what is will take to repaint the door and seats...

Bad news is I found a crack/leak in my plastic intake manifold near the crossover by the thermostat housing (looks to be a common occurence per this forum)..ordered a replacement today and will try to install myself using the guidance on this forum's tech section and my haynes manual...hopefully will go well...will let you know...

Good luck with the car & like Jason stated, check out my redying threads.

In comparison I paid $7100 for my 60k mile 5-speed 'vert in August of '10.
Mine was a 2 owner car that had some modifications as well (Light bar, redyed seats, halo headlights)
Seats were easy to do, headlights went out the door the first 3 days I owned it!

Post up some pics!

Also any chance of getting a scan of the original window sticker? Love to see what one looks like.
If you can send it to...

Recent intake replacement did not go well...the replacement went well enough, but upon start up the car now knocks (after I fixed it no doubt)...pretty down right now about the whole situation, but will get it fixed soon enough...will let you know how it goes...at least the car looks good!!

Sorry to hear your having some trouble. Keep punching along and it will be worth it in the end.

Car looks great! Gotta do those seats....:)

Finally back on the road

Well, it has been over a month and half, but I am back on the road...long story short, my motor now has a fresh rebuild...not planned, but nevertheless, now it is back to enjoying the car...

In the interim, I found the original owner of my car and was able to purchase the original trunk spoiler in excellent condition (no chips/scratches) for $20.

Having new tires installed tomorrow (weather permitting) and will get the car into the shop for the top repair sometime over the next couple of weeks. Going to enjoy driving it for a while first. Also purchased a K&N cold air performance intake that I will install soon.

Will work on the interior re-paint/repair soon as well...

Here's to warmer weather!
