Just wondering here, what tools did you use to get down to the shiny bare metal on your aprons? Was it a sanding flapper disc on an angle grinder and/or a wire wheel on an angle grinder?
A lot of it was done with wire wheel on a drill

It seems like a lot of work to retain the 289. Are there plans for a Mod-Motor in the future?
