So Confused On Trick Flow Heads?

I got pissed and had sarcaasm and that crap because you guys bashed me first. so hell no im not going to tell you guys. and of course you are all going to think im lying or some bs cuz im not going to tell you. I read a lot of the post on here at just laugh. i would love to help people out but everyone on here has the attutide of well since i couldnt figure it out and threw in the towel you should to. Sorry guys i dont work that way. So i will just keep working on my stuff for people that want to go fast and our NMCA dragsters.
I hope you're not referring to me. If anyone around here who knows my style they would tell you I am a smartass 90% of the time. But when I preface it with a statement letting you know I'm NOT being sarcastic or anything like it, I have a genuine question. Which you still haven't answered. I don't want to beat the drum of which is better based on opinion, I want facts to debunk what I've been told or to support it from guys who have no doubt more experience than me. I am a handshake kind of guy, and took you for an honest person and not a liar, which puts you at a load more experience than me. Really still just curious why afr gets your nod before trick flow considering my limited experience that it's usually a close race, but tf comes out ahead in the battle of the two.

If you could answer I would appreciate it. :nice:

Fwiw, all of my points/questions pertained to both the OP and where the thread was going.

Jays out? Man that sucks. Great guy to deal with.

No hes not, hes an f'ing douche bag that ripped off a ton of people. Good riddance to the piece of crap

ok with all this afr vs tfs stuff. I just want to know what head will make the most power for 1500 bucks, and that i can run a trick flow track heat manifold and a andeson n-41 cam on a stock 302 bottom end and pistons, and not have any clearance problems and that i also can shift it at about 6200-6500 rpm

thats a really open question. It all depends on the compression ratio of the heads and what intake and cam is used with them. Send an E-mail to Ed Curtis www.flowtechinduction.com and ask him what you are here. You will get more professional accurate and correct answers and less drama BS. Ed set me up with one of his cams and set me up with a real nasty set of Trick Flow High Port heads on my 351 and I'll be getting dyno numbers sometime in june after just getting it running this past weekend but am unable to drive it yet.

I had AFR 185's on my engine before with a TFSR intake and one of Eds cams and it put down 345 but the heads were 72cc Combustion chambers which lowered my compression by a lot.

The thing is, there's not a really huge difference between the AFR and TW heads. Both offer various levels of airflow to support pretty much any level of performance 99% of people are looking for. I leaned heavily toward the TW because it offers better PtV clearance, and I liked the idea of buying heads and an intake from the same company, rather than mixing and matching brands.

In the end it really boils down to this: just figure out what airflow you need, pick a brand an go with it. Damn near 100% of the fanboy TW Vs AFR arguments have very little factual background. For every 350 rwhp 302 with TW heads, there's a similar one running around with AFRs and vice-versa. If one was clearly better than the other, the other company would have went out of business long ago.

Never got that impression from him. Glad I wasn't in the majority then.

He used to be legit until he went off the deep end and ripped off a ton of people and drove his business into the ground.

+1 on what NIC said. Both heads are really good. You would be happy with either head. If you want 350 HP why dont you just throw a blower on it? I had my 95 GT supercharged with the stock heads, stock cam and Cobra intake and exhaust and it put down 335

Wait..wait..wait.....you got bashed first? I must have missed it? Because the only post I saw addressing you at all before you went off on your little tirade was mine and in no way was this.....
You won't come anywhere close to 330-350rwhp with GT40 heads, intake and cam.
Might crack 300rwhp if you're lucky....real lucky.
...in any way meant as, or could be construed by any level headed person a bash?!?

Look dude, you got hot under the collar when you saw that someone didn't agree with your power projections and lost your cool. If you can’t, or don’t want to back your claims, then don’t, but don’t chest thump about where you work, or what you do for a living, then in the same breath pout and play the blame game either. Just own it and move on.

Now ya see? I told you you'd argue with whatever data I threw out there. Take my numbers I gave you and plug them into any hp calculator and you'll see they are pretty damn close. Elevation? I'm 20ft above sea level. It's perfect. And I don't know where your're getting your info about nitrous ratings being best guess. I've seen so many dyno runs before and after nitrous they're usually + or - 5HP tops. Hell, the muscle car guys even did it on Spike TV to show how accurate it is.... As I said before, just because you can't do it, don't mean it's wrong, it means YOU CAN'T DO IT... this is beginning to bore me..I think I'm going to go throw a stick for my dog.. he's better company.
Data….I’m actually still waiting for any actual data?!? I got a 150-shot of nitrous and a guess based on a horsepower calculator out of you for your so called “data”? In any case, go have fun with your dog, your stick and your horsepower calculator. :)

So sad...

Look Im sorry if i upset or offended anyone. Im usually not like this. I have had a bad couple of days, I didnt realize i was kinda taking it out on you guys. SORRY!!! I dont have any numb ers unfortunatley, I dont keep that stuff cuz we build so many cars. Sorry to disappoint you, and if i did have them i would post them. So next time someone comes in with that setup i will keep the numbers. But as far as the why I choose AFR over Trick Flow is that in my experience I have had better power with them. Hell I even had a 306 of my own with trick flow heads. I have nothing against them. So I apalogize for any hurt feelings.

No hurt feelings here! I literally love learning and will ask anyone who I believe has more knowledge and or experience than me to educate me.

Thanks!

Thanks bud. Like said i was just hving a bad couple days and didnt realize i was taking it out on you guys. If i had the numbers and stuff i would gladly show them to you guys. I still learn new things all the time to.

Don't apologize. People come here looking for others opinions and some challenge them when they don't likevwhat they read. There are members on this board with explorer combos knocking down. Just shy of 300 to the wheels. There are others with e7 heads trapping 12 sec 1/4 mile times. Just because they aren't in the majority doesn't make it any less true.

Im learning things myself. My Father-in-law past away last month and Im build a drag truck in memory of him. Lol he was big into Chevy Luv trucks so im straying from the mustang stuff and building that ionstead of a mustang like i had planned. Learning quite a bit about chevy stuff i didnt know. So im right there with you guys, always learning.
