No I know. I was just saying something screwy because if I'm going to be talked to like I know nothing I might as well act like it :D

I'm the same way. If I'm gonna accused of being "Mad" :)mad: or ) when I reply, I may as well act like it.

The internet is an ambiguous way to talk to people, and obviously you cannot see the other person replying or commenting. I'm gonna argue any point from somebody I don't agree with (especially when comparing Pintos to Fox bodies)
Consequently,...I do not know that you don't know what chassis platform Mustang II's and Fairmonts derive from, unless you make a comment comparing one to each other. To me they are as different as night and day.

A fairmont is a dorky, boxy econo box, that only required a HS diploma to design, and a Pinto/Mustang II is a roundy, bulging mechanical wart.;)

**Winkie dude inserted at end to show comments as "playful kidding"

This was a factory vehicle or no?! It looks way better as a ranchero than it does a 2 door sports coupe!

I'm sorry,....... that thing reeks of crotchedy-assed raisin. Every "pickup car" that has ever been built Ranchero's, El Camino's and the above all look like cars suffering from identity disorders.

Let's just leave it at this:
I think the Futura/Z7 bodystyle is cool as hell. I'm confident that the final version of the car will be exactly as I plan it to be. For those that think the car is ugly, or even worse, prefer the pick up version of the body style because they don't like the car, and cannot imagine it differently...............You'll just have to wait I guess.
Pretend the red car was never built,..and that nobody on here knows me from Adam, and I get on and state that I intend to graft 1968 front and rear sheetmetal into a Fox Mustang Coupe.
How many thumbs up do you spose that would've got then?

Hey Mike, what do you think of this find?

Yeah,...I looked at that too. But the interior!!!! I mean I gotta drive that thing for a little while before I can even hope to start on the interior. After just a short while in that thing I'd worry about wanting to watch reruns of HeeHaw.

It's like I said earlier,..I've have 6 of those things over the last 25 years. 3 of them have been that horrible shade of blue. I'm done trying to dye everything back to a more desirable hue.
And what's up w/ that accessory plate in front of the shifter?

I was just about to post "the switch panel sweetens the deal". I like me some Fairmont. I prefer the large quarter glass but that is just me.

I did, made me dislike them even more. The car can look OK until it gets to about the driver door and its like WTF?!?! The rear is another windshield, its like they took two cars, cut both fronts off, and stuck them together, it has two front ends. I dont get it.

Absolutely entitled to your opinion of course, however I would take ANY year El Camino over a Futura/Z7. I can't say the same for ANY Ranchero because they were pretty damn ugly outside of the 60's.

I'm not sure really what you're trying to get at with the "pretend I never built the red car" deal, I respected the hell out of the skill and execution you put forth on that car but it was never "my thing" personally.

I wanted to do this with a nice Merc or Fairmont. Then I bought a late model Grand Marquis and thought it is heavier, but why duplicate my efforts? The G. Marquis has antilock brakes and a nicer interior than I could probably force myself to buy, a new V-8...

Have fun saving a cool car.
