Drilling Holes In Fuel Pump Basket

So doesn't this negate the filter on the pump module? I mean I can count on one hand the times dirty fuel has stopped someone I know's car, buuuut seems kinda unsafe if it does negate the filter.
Educate me! LOL

I havent driven it yet. Got it back together and that was it for the night. It starts and revs but I have to go fill her up and give it a go.

As far as the fuel sock on the housing, there was a rubber disc right below the pump that allowed fuel in but not out. So some fuel would get in without being strained. I'm sure there is no way to avoid the risk associated with bypassing the sock. No risk, no reward. I know a ton of people have done this mod without incident. Im going to be sure not to let the gas level get below a quarter tank. Other than that, I'm going to run it like usual.

If the pump goes, I will replace it with an Aviator pump. Make lemons into lemonade.

Well, I took it out for a test drive. It has become painfully obvious to me that my car had a larger problem than I thought. My car now revs smoother, doesn't hiccup (especially when starting from stop and in between gears), and is now generally easier to drive. Should have done this sooner. Thanks for the tips Superstang.

Glad it worked out for you and glad I could help you out!
