Ok, I purchased a cold air intake from the AmericanMuscle website and installed it with no problems. Now when I start my car it sounds like theres a tornado in the passenger fender. Then when im driving, I randomly hear the intake really loud like its spiratically sucking in massive amounts of air then stopping so theres no sound coming from the intake at all. Also when I first start my car it makes a pop sound, then the rpm's go up and back to normal. Almost sounds like a thump. I am almost positive its coming from the filter in the fender.

I have a similar issue. Very high idle when I first start the car, and when it sits in idle a low bump can be heard coming from inner fender. Any luck finding a cause?

No luck so far. People I have asked though just say its normal engine noise but it almost sounds like a backfire that's what has me worried

I don't necessarily think it's a backfire, I think you'd really know if it were. Second, today I tightened up the TPS bolts and the high idle went away. So I would say that you should check your connections and see if your TPS has some play, if no leaks then I'd look at replacing some hoses. Small cracks in old hoses can lead to larger cracks, and can still let air in.

Hopefully that helps, if even a little.

I'll definitely try that. Do I have to get replacements from ford? Or can I just get the vacuum hoses from Advance or AutoZone?

You should be able to get them at Autozone, you'll just have to pull your hose and take it in with you so you can have it cut at the right length. I'll be replacing some other various vacuum hoses shortly as well, some newer ones I bought a few months ago are already getting worn out. Extreme heat and extreme cold can do crazy things to the most random of parts.
