On a complete side note, im thinking of all thats in my car that still needs to be bought...and **** it lol. Sell that car and start fresh. So much money away from it being semi safe to rip on without killing something else :( I'll give you my email so you can send me pics of what you have and what you're doing with it. I'll also keep you updated with what im doing with the talon. Just converted to speed density because my GM Maf sucked so much in the rain lol.. Runs awesome now though :D Also got a new hood. Mine was toasted from the sun. 40 bucks for a freshy :D Just have to get rid of these wheels. :)

well holy crap lol..... I've had a hood fly up on me at 45...and i put a car sideways into a wall at 90...the hood flying up was way more scary then that crash!

Glad you're okay. Hope your next car experiance is awesome :) 11 grand is a pretty sweat deal too. This kid is obviously spoiled lol. Let him have the heap and go out and buy something with no problems for awhile (;p)

If the hood thing didnt happen i would have been on the other side of the fence...even though i still think i like that being a sign as to keep it. But if they are all crazy with money in hand then go for it:D sad but i bet that car is going to be sideways in the rain in a week or two and that kid wont have anything but a lame story lol.

Lol....I'd write a novel in here; but go check out the 'targa' thread instead. My luck = awesome :(

Keep the stang! You have a very sour taste in your mouth after that horrible experience. Nothing is going to feel like that stang once its up and going 100% Aside from another built car ;p

I too could go with an 03 cobra and just have an insane DD and track car but all the mods for those things are way to spendy. and reading up on their problems i think id just get annoyed.

Your car is beautiful and i still have the vote keep it. Drive it around once its all up and going with a nice safe tune. I really wouldnt worry about the 200k thing. If the body is straight then whats the issue?! I just see another bragging right lol.

      Hey man,

So anyhow; technically my car is now 'sold' for $10k but I've yet to go through with it yet. I fixed the head gasket and found that I had a massive vaccum leak from last season causing me all my drivability issues...and robbing some serious power. The car feels insane comparitivley.

What's screwed up is I kinda want to tell him it popped when I was out so I can't sell the car now. Am I crazy? Do I really want to invest even more into a car going to have 200k just because it's mine and I built it from scratch?...

On a side note I drove a c5 and didnt like it lol. I contemplated the 03 cobra route; but theyre $$. I would go to a WS6 if I went through with this....but I just can't.

      Thoughts?

Its how i feel too ;p. Hard to give away something you know you put time and energy into :'(

As for being slow...think of a cam and intake swap...oh holy crap now im fast again lol! C5's are amazing and....dude its a corvette! lol. I hope everything works out awesome for you. Dont need another car putting you into a hole like this one did.

A c5 would be sweet...although its going to suck being 'slow'. The problem with mine is the asinine amount of miles on the chassis combined with the stock shortblock. If it was lower milage with a 306 like yours it would be more $.
I started taking things apart today to remedy the HG before the sale. Kinda made me sad :( I suppose time will tell. I wish I wasnt so sentimental with every vehicle I ever sell. It's like if I put in wrench time it becomes mine and no one elses.

      a c5 is a great start man

On the same side note i think you could get more ;p i wouldnt sell my heap for under 12 lol.

Brand doesn't matter...they all kinda do the same thing. On a side note I got offered the full $10500 for my car. I think I'm going to be taking that and my shortblock funds and buying a c5 corvette lol.

lol! I just need to do the top end and get the tunning finished. I have the money saved up just in the time now. Also need to get my stang back over to my house to start the fitting of those slicks and skinnies. I tend to let that thing cool down before shutting it off. If i were to get a turbo timer for cool down what one should i get?
    11. HankyGT
      HankyGT
Haha sound awesome. As for your turbo timer gripes; the EvoIII (which I had on my old one and LOVED) is still water cooled aswell. Its a good idea for long trips or after a hard pull to let them cool down a bit; but for daily driving it's going to take YEARS to even start to coke the shaft esp if you run decent grade oil and change it on the regular. DSMs tend to be a little hard on oil imo. Letting idle for 30 sec is the max I'd go if that. If I was out ripping on it and went to put it away for the night, I'd just listen to a song on the radio or something or whatever was on to finish haha. It'll take 10yrs to kill it at that rate lol...plus I've taken apart and rebuilt quite a few unknown mile 14bs, cleaned them out, changed the dustcover on the hotside, did some light porting and ran 12s on stock 450s, no tune, stock SMIC, and a 190 on a hardwire....on stock ported 1g manifolds and a stock exhaust with no cat lol!

I NEED to do a head gasket ARP head studs cams lifters...well just build a damn head you know ;p also have the 255 in tank..I got to change that thing twice too. I basically got to do almost everything twice because of doing it alone and not having what if parts lol.
    13. Dizzy_ax
      Dizzy_ax
Yeah i guess i need to do a build list for ya lol, Its got an evo 3 16g/ETS FMIC and intake, 850cc injectors, GM Maf ran through DSM link V3 and a wideband and boost gauge in an awesome sleep location lol..I should get a pic of it. second gen exhaust mani and o2 housing. both ported by me :D and the turbine housing ported by me :D I got to do it twice because a douchbag ripped me off on a big16g... Oh well live and ya learn ;p

Other then that small things that were needed and she runs and starts like a champ :D I love not having idle surge...My god if my mustang didnt have that id drive it all over the place..But its such a damn pain in the arse i just get to where im going and turn that pos off.

Yes, they do, I think it's just the exhaust cam though iirc. 1990 model cars got n/a cams and there was another revision in 93 where the turbo cams are a little better yet. Aftermarket is the way to go though. Auto cars also got different tdo4 (13g) turbos; they are smaller and not as efficient as the 14b tdo5h on the stick cars. The auto cars also run a 390cc injector rather than the 450cc stick cars.
Have you changed the fuel pump in yours to a 190lph or better and put it on a 12v hardwire yet? Do that immediately if you havent. If you choose to run a 255lph you will have to replace the fuel regulator as they tend to push past them.

Yeah man, I bought that marroon car as a $900 basket case project; had some nice stuff on it that was installed bass-akwards and shoddy. Got some decent deals on some used things, got a set of EVO VIII wheels that were in rough shape and smurf blue for cheap....and then spent 2 weeks handpolishing them to mirrors.

      Neat car for sure.

      Dizzy_ax
these things are so cheap to build! lol

Do you know if the autos have different cams then the five speeds? Kinda doubt it but you never know. there is tons of crap on this car that makes me go WTF!

I had just under $2500 in that total build. ;)

Sold it for $4500. Paid for most of my DD; 02 Escape lol.
