Melbourne area stangs

Had a run in w/ a J-Body leaving Hooters....

Yeah, so I'm on my way home from Hooters, and I'm in my mom's 99 Camry w/ a 3.0 V6, and I'm at the light at Wickham and Eau Gallie. I decided to try to manually shift the gears, so I put it in Low while I'm still stopped. Light turns green and I take off. Needless to say, it gets up a bit quicker. While I was headed towards the light at Aurora & Wickham, there is this car riding my butt, then switches to the right lane. We are both lined up at the light. I had the feeling he wanted to race me. I didn't put the car in Low gear to shift thru, tho I should have, so the light turns green and he floors it and after the second it took me to realize he was serious, I floored it too. His Sunfire was obviously a stick, and I was a few inches a head of him.. he shifted and he barely moved forward, but when I hit 2nd, I just started walking him. :D
I had all the windows down and I was watching him just fade away. It was funny. I had about 2 car lengths on him and I turned on the Hazard lights to let him know that I know I just won. :D :p He flashed his brights to acknowledge. We got to the light at Lake Washington and Wickham, he was in the right lane, and he was turning east down L.W. and he gave me a thumbs up and a smile, which I thought was rather sportsman like of him, so it was cool. So yea, there's my kill. :nice:
If I were in the Probe.. he would have owned me.
Good thing mom's outta town. :D

Yea I thought it was pretty funny. I had my big ole ***** eatin' grin on until I got home.. I still do a little, it was just funny. My mom's car isn't even that fast, it's quick, but I dunno.. maybe it's the feeling of victory.
Can't wait till I get the stang...

hey guys

erich and dan i dont want to step on any bodies toes but since holloween? is on a thursday some of the guys after you left erich said maybe we should meet a different nite an since that car show is on that tuesday nite at the andrettis just a thought and yep the 4.10s are going in my coupe with a 5 speed:nice:

Speaking of kills, I took out a Focus ZX3 monday night with my convertible. I too am very impressed with this kill ;)
It just had to be done. The dude cut me off, I then stayed glued to the back of his car at the next stop light when he took off shifting as fast as he could. He then decides to get out of the right lane and move over because I was riding his tail just to give him a message not to cut me off. We end up getting caught up at the next stop light up the road with me in the left and him in the right. What happend next shocked me, the little bastard had the nerve to try to race me off the line. Light turned green he hauls ass off getting about a car and half already on me before I know what is going on. Now I have finally got the tranny broken in and I thought this would be a good time to see what she's got. I take off easy, shift into second, crazy tire spin with the rear end going all over the place. At this time I have already starting to pass him. Back off the gas, finally get traction, back on the gas, shift light comes on, bang into third, all over the place again, I then backed totally and threw it into fourth. It was a sad sight, I left his ass way back there. Now I just need to get some traction, I lost a hell of a lot of time spinning between gears.
I know I shouldn't be picking on Foci but the dude just asked for it jumping off the line like that.

alright guys, im back from lakeland, and i have alot of good news, and some bad. what im gonna do, is call a meeting for next friday night, so i can let you all in on whats going on. im not gonna give any details on here, so you need to show up next friday. if anybody has a place they would like to go for this meeting, throw out some idea's, wether it be someones house, or just where ever. im canceling my trip to tallahassee next weekend for this, and to go to the Jacksonville chapters big show in st augustine, so lets get some club support going, and lets go show the rest of them, that we are in this thing like the rest of them:nice:

Dan:cheers:

Yeah, eric, maybe we can just do the car show thing on Tuesday. Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. :)

Dan, we had a pretty small showing last night. We had two new guys and 4 old. As for meeting up, that's fine. Who all needs to be involved again? All of us?

Erich,
Here are your 2001 Springs choices. I'd look at the H&R supersports or the Race springs.

As for shocks/struts, the set for the 03 is $199 here, so the struts alone will be cheaper. You'll want a different set of shocks in the rear. I'd try shox.com first, but if they aren't providing a price you like, let me know and I'll ask someone I know where the best price is.

Thanks. I like the Eibach springs, they're a bit rich, but that's about what I want. Now, for the shocks and struts, can I just buy that set off the '03 and be done with it, or can I only buy a certain part (the struts, I guess) and buy the shocks off something else?

The shocks on the 03 are valved for the heavier springs in the IRS. You'll need shocks that are valved accordingly for the solid axle in your GT. If my sources are correct (and I suspect they are), the 03 cobra struts are valved the same as the 00R struts which means you could use the same rear valving I have in my car. Of course, by this time you're exceeding that $450 estimate I put out earlier by having to buy the shocks and struts separate. So depending on how much the struts are seperate, you could easily exceed $500 ($235 for the springs and about $180 for the shocks, plus whatever the struts would be). Depending on what your budget is, the Bullitt kit might still be the better deal (if you can live with the drop) unless you can get a decent deal on the Eibachs used, which wouldn't be hard.

guys, im sorry to keep changing stuff, but i need to get my sh1t together before i give out all the details. :nice: so, we are not gonna have a meeting friday night.

BUT! Dan, Erich, the 3 of us still need to get together. So Dan, you dont need to worry about getting out of work early friday night:nice: What we'll do is just meet after you get out of work, or if there is a night that your not working, we can get together then. let me know what the 2 of you think. i work till 730 on sunday, and 930 the rest of the week, i dont care what night.

Well, I'd suggest Tootsies again, but considering some friends and I are going tonight, that won't fly. :D I'm pretty open, I guess. I guess Sunday would work out.
