I was wondering how many of you use Mobil1 0w-20 for the winter ? I just purchased 5 individual qts. of it at a local Wal-mart. I had been gonna buy 5w-30, but noticed a good price on the single quarts. Any Mobil1 oil was only 3.74 a qt. Good deal in my opinion. I couldnt pass it up. I think Im going to use a Mobil1 oil filter just to try it out. I just wanted your opinions on the oil for winter use. I wont be driving my car much in the winter either. Just on the days when the road are clear. I'll be changing the oil at 18k miles. I have a bit over 17k now. I plan on sticking with Mobil1 for the rest of the time I own the car. Im thinking I should use 5w-30 when summer time hits.

I called the guys at Mobil awhile back and they said to use 0w-20 year round. They said it was better for our cars than the 5w-30. Oh well, they know more than I do.

Well, Ive already got the 0w-20 so Im gonna use it. I think it should be good for winter since its a thinner oil. I'll be using Mobil 1 5w-30 though the rest of the year. Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it.

Who told you that ? Not saying I disagree but whats the difference in using 0w-20 and 5w-30 before 30k miles ? Im guessing whoever said this consideres the first 30k miles a break in period.

I was told by a local shop, use Mobil 1 0w-20 for warranty reasons. He said that with 5w-30, Ford could blame any engine problems on not
using the recommended grade oil (5w-20 for my 01)
Don't know if they really could get away with that..? but I am using it.

I'm confused on my 2002 GT... the oil filler cap says 5w-20 in big yellow letters.

??? so is this or is it not the correct grade of oil?? You guys seem to contridicting each other???
5w-20 is the correct grade but some people say 0w-20 is the same thing, it's just a full synthetic. i use motorcraft 5w-20 just to be on the safe side (plus its cheaper :nice: )

my brother's has had 10w-30 (he takes it to wal-mart) in his car for awhile now and no problems. his oil pressure gauge doesn't work but i don't know if it's because of the actual oil itself

Yeah, I have been running the Mobil 1 5w-30 in the summer, gonna go back to the Mobil 1 0w-20 next change though. It just seems a little too thin to me. But that's what the guy said to run.

I used 0w-20 in mine and no problems, it actually seemed to pick up power with it compared to regular oil. I liked it.

As for your brother, has he played with his ECU? In front of the ECU are 3 wiring harnesses. One of those harnesses lets the Oil Pressure gauge work. Make sure they're all snapped it.

thats my philosophy. i've got 5w-30 in now and going to 0w-20 most likely on my oil change this week
