Finally....KB dyno numbers

Please hurry with the track times. I am ordering my KB kit in about two months. So close to that goal. Gotta love these stangs.

Suggestion: If your goal is track times get all the upgrades. Switch chip, 90mm MAF, big tube kit, 75 mm throttle body and thier CAI. I don't have the switch chip. My car is detuned for 91 octane. I still make 400 rwhp and 410 rwtq @ 9 psi. No other mods on my car other than a Magnaflow catback and Nitto DR's. I even have the stock 3.27 gears. I did a 12.3 @ 114 at 1200' in Phoenix without even knowing what I was doing. Second time ever at a track. If I would have had slicks and skinnies I am pretty sure I would have been into the 11's. Too much torque in 1st and 2nd to use all of the throttle. I launched at 2,000 rpm's or less and still had to feather it throughout 1st and into second.

I wanted a Kennebell so bad I could taste it but I priced it and the intercooled version was $5000. I ended up with a Novi 2000 and the guy who does all my work said I will get more power and quicker et.s with a cintrifical blower anyway. I love the way the Kennebell feels like an old big block or something though. Nothing beats the way a roots style supercharger looks under the hood either. For some reason I still find myself wishing I could get the Kennebell. If I could get a great deal on one for a 2000 GT I would have a Novi 2000 for sale.

Don't blindly believe the "centrifugals are faster at the track" statements. Twin screws are generally quicker at the track when compared to a centrifugal with the same horsepower levels. It take an additional 30-50 rwhp from the centrifugal for things to even up if both cars are equal otherwise. Also, what I've seen from the KB kit at 9 psi with minor bolt-ons is in the 425-450 rwhp range. I don't see a centrifugal making more than that at 9 psi. If you up the boost for the centrifugal you have to do the same for the KB. At 14 psi the KB makes about 520 rwhp which IMO isn't going to be topped by a centrifugal with the same minor bolt-on mods at the same boost levels. Now add a good aggressive tune (this is something that I haven't seen yet on a KB blown car that has been dyno'ed) and the hp numbers I quote might be a good deal on the low side. Next spring I think many are going to be surprised with some of the track times from the KB'ed 4.6L GT's. B.C. ran a 12.3 @ 114 mph and it was only his second time at the track. I would bet good money he will run under 11.5 with slicks and some good driving. How many centrifugal blown 4.6L GT's with minor bolt-ons run under 11.5's and do it on 9 psi of boost?

Before you centrifugal guys start to flame me I'm not saying the centrifugals are bad blowers. They are fine and a good choice for many people.

Primo ran 12.29 @ 108.13 (he let off the gas the last 20' due to his dial in time) on the same track same day. So I would say that both blowers can put you in the 11s with good driving. He was running drag radials.
*He has a Novi 2000 blower :nice:

What psi of boost is he running? Also, keep in mind this was BC's second time at the track (don't mean that in a bad way BC :nice: ). I'm not playing down Primo's numbers either. Just want to make sure we're comparing apples to apples.

I'm not sure but maybe 10 psi.....also deadlurker ran low 12s and he is not a NMRA racer either. Not trying to make this thread a KB vs Centri :)

I didn't take it that way. I'm not trying to start a flame war either. I just see too many threads where someone states the twin screws don't perform at the track when this is far from the truth. I also think BC could easily be in the high 11's with nothing but a little more practice.

One thing to add here is I have no other mods besides the Kenne Bell @ 9 psi, a Magnaflow catback and Nitto dr's. It is only tuned for 91 octane. Besides being a rookie I ran those times on the stock 3.27 gears. No headers, o/r pipes, suspension mods, nothing else. Full tank of gas, with all my luggage, tools, etc. I weighed in at 3740 the day before without my luggage. I really didn't expect the times I ran. I was hoping and praying for a 12.6, maybe a 12.5 if I got lucky. 12.3 @ 114 was a big surprise.

There will be guys here getting much better times than me with the KB with a otherwise stock setup. My car is running the most conservative tune that KB has.

BTW car my car was wrecked last weekend. Fixable I think. But I was at a track on my first run and the guy in the other lane lost control at the 1/8 mile mark and flew into me. I was running a 1/10 faster and 3.5 mph faster at the 1/8 than I did on my 12.3 run. I think I would have made it to the 11's that day.

By the next time I go to a track I will have a o/r pipe, LCA's, adjustable drag shocks/struts, linelok and maybe a couple of other goodies. I was going to do one thing at a time but while it is down I am upgrading a few components.

True......people still cant understand that a twin screw blower outperforms a roots blower. They see them as equal blowers. :nonono:
Another reason are the low numbers of the new saleen IV blower.

That sucks. Sorry to hear about your ride. Hope everything works out for you. Good luck with getting it back on the road soon. Still can't wait to get mine. Reading all of this is making me consider cutting a few strings and buying the kit even earlier.

Sorry about your car :(
I'm sure that mid 11s are just around the corner with your new mods!
