Alright guys, I have decided between one of these two as my Christmas gift to myself.

It's between UPR's O/R X pipe and FRPP's 4.10s.

I have a 96 GT, mostly stock...no performance mods, except full suspension and 40 series flows.

If you guys were going to decide between the two, what would you do?

I am doing the installation myself, regardless of the decision - so I would need whichever install kits with whatever I decide to get.

So..thoughts?

If you have trouble hooking up now gears are just going to make it 10 times worse. What i have decided to do is get the most hp out of my car and shoot for the lowest time i can go without gears. The last thing i do to my car is going to be gears. But im not looking for a low 12second car. I want a low 13/high 12second street which might not be possible without gears. AAHHH enough with the rambling. Get which ever will make you happy. If you want to feel the A$$ end swing aroud alot get the gears, if you want really good sound and an increase in horsepower get the upr. But it will be easier to install the UPR instead of the gears

You are probably going to be very happy with the gears. It will feel alot better pulling away from those stoplights. Your going to love them once their in :D :D

Me too...4:10's were my best mod yet....I would change the bearings out while you are in there. Search websites for good prices and most have bearing kits that have everything you need.

Won't gears (4.10's) give the most noticeable gains for passing power on the streets? For instance, say your entering an on-ramp to eventually merge onto the highway (5spd guys). Your in second gear around 2000rpm, where you mash the throttle in order to pass the person beside you. With 4.10's, won't that give you a huge edge over stock gears? Wouldn't you pass that person much faster since the multiplication of torque is most crucial at low rpm?

In other words, arent there certain spots in the power band at certain speeds where 4.10's are going to make you significantly faster then stock gears? Low rpm lugging around town, passing on the highway without having to downshift, and other real world instances is where gears seem like they would give huge gains.

Starting out in first gear from a roll and shifting at WOT thereafter is a totally different feel then mashing the gas in a higher gear and waiting for it to reach redline, and thats where i'm hoping gears would make a huge difference for my Cobra.

Does any of that make sense? Hopefully :bang:
