, Its gonna cost enough cash to get it done right, i'd suggest A: a Budget
b: some realistic goal, like hp or quarter mile time C: and maybe a due date.

Post Disclaimer: this post is LONG!
Well here is my scenario; I dont have a time frame or budget established and I dont want either of those. I know that a car is the worst investment in the world, and any money i dump in I'm not gonna get back out. Also, its not my daily driver so this project could take a year or 10 years for all I care. My only goal is to get it done right the first time, and to not have to make any major changes down the road. i want to build something that I will hold on to for a long time and keep in my garage to show my kids when Im old.
lol. maybe not, but you get the picture. this isnt gonna be a dialy driver or a race-setup. this 'stang is gonna be something I can drive on the weekends and show the ricers in town what "First On Race Day" really means. I already am half way through a complete interior resto including the following:
-Brand new black molded carpet
-Custom cut polished aluminum panels in the stock radio, heater control, and vent locations (looks sweet with gauges installed)
-Polished Aluminum guage panel
(replaces stock speedo, tach and other guages with autometer ones)
-Autometer lunar gauges
(boost,air/fuel,fuel press.,oil press....Speedo and tach on the way)
-Brand new black leather "sport" seats from Summit racing catalog (MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!)
-Guage pod for 5" tach and 2 other guages that sits on dash
(looks stock!)
Still to come:
-Full 8-point roll bar
(its a convertible and yes, this may be overkill on a 4-cyl 'stang but i only paid $80 for it!)
-Black console with arm-rest delete
-5 point harnesses for the sport seats
-Removed rear seat and fabricated an aluminum "rear seat delete" panel, but have yet to install it.
Theres a lot of dough I have dropped into the interior right there, and I havent even started on the body or engine!
basically I estimate Iam going to spend $10,000 on this project (call me crazy but its cheaper than a new v6 stang with less performance....the v6 guys are gonna kill me
), but when Its all said and done, its gunna be sweet. Its not gonna be some junkyard stang with a sweet engine. Hopefully it will have 'sho AND go'! Some body mods I have planned are:
Wings West dominator body kit....$$$
Cobra R wing
(yes I know, it does look a bit "rice" on a fox body, but oh well!)
Chrome Bullit wheels
Already have a Cobra "RR" SVO hood (with functional hood scoop)
Custom fiberglass "speedster" tonneau cover (some guy in canada modifies the sn-95 ones to fit fox convertibles)
Also, since this will only be a "nice weather driver", I plan to remove the convertible top and all of the pumps and hardware and just leave the tonneau cover on permanently. My dad and I were trying to figure out a way to sawzall the top of a junkyard notchback or coupe from the windshield to the decklid,in order to make a custom removeable hardtop, but there was just too much fabrication work involved and we scrapped the idea.
Well I think this post has gotten long enough, so Ill let someone reply to something.
lol
