 :bang: i was driving down the road a little while ago & stopped at a stop light. well i took off like normal & then shifted into 2nd, then i hear a tire screech from the car beside me (grand am with 5 people in it) so i just played with them a little till about 4500 or 5000 (nothing full throttle just pacing them) in second gear, just staying beside them while they had it to the floor, all in good fun for the heck of it. & then when i was done playing, i went to change lanes & shift to third, i missed it -- or at least i thought i missed it. the shifter went to neutral, while the tranny stayed in second :fuss: well after i pulled over & figured out what the heck was going on, i finally made it home in second :bang: :fuss:

well i know it's going to be fixed under warranty, but do any of you guys know what the #^% caused this ? if so i'd appreciate ya letting me in on it. thanks

I guess driving with only 2nd gear is manageable if you have stock gears but dont' you have 4.10s?...you gotta get that fixed quick.

well i did have the 4.10's in the old gt, but not in this one yet :D after christmas it's going to be a whole different car though :D

btw-do you all think i might be able to persuede ford into letting me pay the extra for a cobra tranny & bellhousing  just a thought cause hopefully within the year i might need that much tranny :D

Depends on how much the dealer doesn't suck. :nice:

But aren't TKO's tougher than the T-56's?

i think so, but i don't think they would put a aftermarket tranny in a brand new car. but since the cobra one is technically a stock piece, just from a different make, i might be able to get away with it

As far as getting a T56 out of the deal it's about 1200 bucks more for than the tr3650 tranny and you also have to get a different driveshaft for it to work. Yes the TKO is a stronger tranny than the T56.

is that new bellhouseing & all, or just tranny???
hopefully i can get a little better deal than that since my sister does the f & i for them, cause i only have about 500-600 to put towards it :(

I would personally go with the TKO and I have a T56. They are real strong. My friend has one in his 95 GT and we beat the crap out of it daily and it takes it all.

If your serious about getting the T56 you can check em out Here

thanks, i just didn't want to dip too much into the ole s/c reserve money. but it looks like i might have to, oh well

well, i decided to give them one more shot with this tranny. they said they looked at it & the whole thing was a mess, but could tell i wasn't hard on it  (clutch maybe ) so they orderd everything & it should be in working order by the middle of the week, next week. hopefully
