Before/After Dyno numbers with the Predator

OK, so I finally get around to having my car dyno'ed again now that I've swapped out my DC for a K&N and installed a set of JBA's. I'm a little leary of my A/F ratio that we were seeing after flashing my EEC with the predator. I did 5 pulls, all hot off the street with only enough time to change parameters in the Predator in between runs. My first pull was a baseline with the STOCK Ford calibration and the mods listed in my sig. Right off the street she went 417 RWHP & 396 RWTQ and my A/F was not too bad really. At 4K she was 12.5, at 5K it was 11.8, and it stayed between 11.8 and 12.0 right up until redline.

I then flashed the EEC with the Predator performance tune and made another pull. This time I get 431 RWHP & 424 RWTQ. The A/F ratio is too lean though! At 4K she was 13.7, at 5K it was 12.7, and it stayed between 12.7 and 12.9 right up until redline.

So I adjust it via the Predator and add 4% fuel. Make another pull and the numbers are 434 RWHP & 425 RWTQ. Still too lean! At 4K she was 13.4, at 5K it was 13.1, at 5.5k it shot up to 13.3, 6k was at 12.7 and it stayed between 12.7 and 13.1 right up until 6500.

Damn... Add another 4% fuel for a total of 8.1% and make another pull. 436 RWHP & 421 RWTQ, but still lean. At 4K she was 12.8, at 5K it was 12.7, at 5.5k it was 12.8, 6k was at 13.3 and it stayed between 13.3 and 13.4 right up until 6500.

OK, last chance and then I'm calling it a day... I add ANOTHER 4% to the fuel table for a total of 12.1%. 437 RWHP & 422 RWTQ, but still lean. At 4K she was 12.7, at 5K it was 12.7, at 5.5k it was 13.1, 6k was at 13.3 and it stayed between 13.3 and 13.4 right up until 6500 again.

TO RICHEN UP THE A/F RATIO YOU MOVE THE SLIDER TO THE LEFT!? CORRECT? I'M REALLY BEGINNING TO WONDER NOW!!!

R----------|-----------L <- No adjustment made (Default).
R----|-----------------L <- Now I've added more fuel, correct?

I ended up flashing my stock Ford calibration back into the EEC because that one was the safest of all at this point. I ordered my Predator from James at RWTD and I've sent an email to him asking for a little help in the way of a custom file (tune) for my Predator. We'll see what happens.

Over all I was pretty happy with the numbers I received even though the A/F is all over the place! No too bad for a stock pulley...

First pic is a comparison between my baseline pull without the Predator performance tune and then with the tune.

Here are the A/F ratios.

Blue = Predator Performance tune
Red = Predator Performance tune +4% rich
Green = Predator Performance tune +8% rich

i have no experience with it, but im guessing that moving to the left adds more fuel. since the "R" is on the left and "L" on the right, im guessing they mean "rich" and "lean". if im correct, than your adding mroe fuel

Yep... I confirmed it from a few different sources... Moving the slider left towards the R adds more fuel. Just funny that the numbers represented on the display are negative when you do this!

Great Numbers U.M., I am not sure about how to work the predator but it helped you out alot. Pretty much persuaded me to get one. Especialy sence I have a 2.9 pullie and idler pullies on the way. DO you think the predator is better then say a superchip or diablo chip? :nice:

Yes I do for the simple fact that it can do the exact same thing as a chip! Either way you go you still need to be close to a dyno so you can ensure your A/F ratio is OK. With a mail order chip you'll have to mail it back for changes and the Predator allows you to do the same thing via email.

Uncle Meat where did you dyno your car on that Vid???????????? in moblie?

No, that was done at Walker Dynotune in Trussville. http://www.walkerdynotune.com/mainsite/

I'd like to add, since you drug this older post up, that I did receive my custom Predator tune from James at RWTD in Mobile. WOW! Lot more low end torque according to my unofficial SOTP meter. I need to get back to the dyno and check it out again!
