Hot Rod /Motor Trend Threads In here

Alright, after doing some digging:

Mach 1: 3465 w/5 spd, 3475 w/auto
Standard Coupe: 3112 w/5 spd
GT Coupe: 3273 w/5 spd
SVT Cobra: 3665

I didn't look at Convertibles, cause those weigh more anyways. So it's not that bad, comparible to the Mach 1.

It's amazing how exactly the computer renders predicted what it woudl look like. i like it, but I have a couple complaints. Didn't Ford say that the GT and the v6 would look alot different? The only diff. I see is a spoiler, wheels, and foh lights in the grille.

And if I were to buy one, i thikn i would drive it striaght from the dealership to the custom wheel shop, becuase the wheels on both versions are :puke: but I think I actually like the v6 rims better.

V6 model has a shorter height to the lower grill and no lights in the upper grill. Hopefully shelby will have different grill lights, possibly centered, hood and side scoops, and a ducktail spoiler or just a raised lip. Tail lights will probably be different on shelby to help distinguish it apart from regular mustangs too. I'm sure they will have their own specific wheels too. It gets the IRS rear and hopefully more horses. They said it will be at the new car shows starting next month, keep your eyes open! Wish I could get my hands on all the car mags for next february to see if anyone has any pics of shelby's.

V6 gets 202/235 hp/tq from the 4.0 SOHC V6 motor. Weight is listed as "less than 3300lbs" for the V6, and "less than 3450lbs" for the GT.

I do wish Ford would give the GT a T56 at least as an option instead of just the 3650, because that engine could really benefit from the gearing of a six-speed. But mucho props on the inclusion of a 5-speed automatic for both models!

The back seat looks like it's really usable this time around, and I dig the color options for the seating. That interior is just gorgeous. The location of the manual shifter seems a bit more reachable than the SN95, but I'll reserve final judgement on that for when I sit in a production vehicle. I had really hoped the automatic would be more sport-oriented than the traditional PRND21 straight layout, but I guess that's probably asking a bit much.

I can't wait to see one of these in person!

Ford should add some blown side scoops and a blown hood scoop. The car looks really nice, but it will look nicer with Blown side and hood scoops.

By "blown" hood and side scoops, do you mean fake scoops? I think it looks fine as it is....but the hood seems too flat, granted these pics aren't very clear but they need some definition.

Actually as I look @ it closer I realize that it's not 290HP. It is 200-something plus. But I can't tell what.

If you're talking about the V-6, another site had a much clearer scan. The V-6 is rated at 202hp while the GT is 300hp.

I think I just might replace my 03 Cobra with a 06/07 Cobra.

Whats the story with these pics? That issue can't already be out can it?

Looks sweet btw. :nice:

Supposedly, a place in Cincinnati or somewhere released the issue early, but thats what I read here. I dunno if it's true or not. Maybe somebody knows the true story.
