1993 cobra.....Should I buy it!!!!!

I've been looking for another mustang and have come acrossed a 1993 Cobra, I've owned about ten mustangs over the last few years most of them Vintage but I have owned a few Fox body GT's and have wrenched on a bunch of them..........

I really don't know jack about these 93 cobras, Are they build by the SVT???? How do they differ from the plain jane GT's besides the body differences????? Like engine specs and such???

I was looking into a Used SVT Focus with plans of adding a turbo, But this 93 cobra may be a better investment. Do you think????

to answer your questions.......93 cobra was the first SVT product, they were the only fox body to come with 17" wheels from the factory and also have rear discs stock. they have gt-40 heads and the gt-40 cast intake (cobra) and typically make ~230rwhp stock. 4993 built and I think that being the most unique and first svt cobra make them an excellent investment....btw, the fewer the mods the higher the value.

Absolutely no doubt, get the cobra! Much better investment than the Focus. If your going to do mods you’ll get most of that money back in the cobra, but most likely lose it in the Focus.

I have been looking for a good 93 cobra myself for my collection. :nice:

Oh, and the 93 cobra stock is good for mid 14’s in the ¼ mile. Turbo and supercharged svt Focus cars are usually mid to low 14’s, so performance wise the cobra is as good without any mods.

easily take the 93 over the Focus,,, the 93 has hit the ten year mark and has pretty much leveled off depreciation wise... as a side note, the 84 SVO was the first fox to have rear discs, but ran the 16 inch rims

Should I Buy?

Late reply...sorry. Did you already make your decision?

Definitely buy the Cobra over the Focus. Be sure to check that it is an authentic SVT Mustang Cobra and not a LX or GT clone. Check the VIN codes on body parts. Eighth digit (engine) is 'D' for 5.0 cobra and 'E' for other 5.0 mustangs.

Cobra is smoother and faster than the GT. GT suspension is stiffer than Cobra. The Cobra rear suspension is basically the same as the 4-cylinder F-body cars. (SVT engineers did this on purpose).

I think Cobra looks slightly better with the subdued ground effects; and the front is definitely cooler.

awesome car, very rare, good stock power, very high market value, get plenty of looks, not a hatchback,

I agree with everything except the 93 Cobra only came in a hatchback. I can not imagine hardly any Mustang or even more specific, Cobra enthusiasts not wanting a 03 Cobra. My first Mustang was a 90 GT, so I have always appreciated the Fox Mustangs, especially those kept in pristine condition.
All I can say is the 93 SVT Cobra is and probably will continue to be one of the most coveted Mustangs in recent history and I'd absolutely love to have a Teal 93 sitting in my own garage!
