Melbourne area stangs

Well after thinking about it for awhile and doing some research on mods, I've decided to not give up on the Mustang so soon. While the Viper is pretty stout to begin with, I wouldn't be able to give up my modding habit and the Viper mods are just rediculously expensive ($23,000 for a f'n TT setup?!? F**k me running!).

Plus, someone wise once said that if you can't afford to push your car off a cliff, don't opentrack it. Well, I can afford to push the mustang off a cliff. I couldn't with the Viper.

And now back to reality...

Hey Baglock, for a minute you sounded like me, considering giving up the Stang. Although my 2nd choice wasn't nearly as cool as yours:nice:
I've finally gotten some pics of the 'other' 5.0L. I think it'd be kinda cool to have another big boat with a modded engine. I need to dig up a driverside window switch panel, since it's seemed to have crapped out, but other than that no complaints at all.
Forgive the low quality as these are scans. Hard to tell but it's actually Smoke color more commonly referred to as Dove Grey.

Now that is a boat.
Yes it is. It's also legal for competition in F-Stock or ESP if I mod it.:rlaugh:
If I'm not mistaken weigh distribution is 55/45 and it is the 6th most stable chassis every built according to NHTSA, very low center of gravity. The fuel tank is inboard, right behind the rearend, so the weight isn't at the very end of the car.

Would be funny to see it meandering around an AutoX course, though.

Yeah Kevin, too bad it weighs 4500 pounds!

Hows it going Kevin, haven't seen you in a while. Hope Santa was good to ya. I played Santa to myself and since I was a very, very, good boy this year I gave myself a bunch of toys. Well, actually, I sold a bunch of parts off the coupe and converted it into MM parts for the 95 GT. If we have another AX in Palm Bay I will have to take you for a ride in it.

Hey Dan, get a TA for that GTS and let's compete in CP this year. I wonder if TJ will go SM this season? After all he does have 3.73 gears and subframes, he ought to move up.

 it's not quite that heavy ;) and it's front and rear frame sections are already connected, unlike a Mustang. But the suspension market is pretty much non existent for the Panther. I'll take you up on that offer of a ride in the GT:D

I'm doing pretty good. No parts for the Stang, but that's ok, I'm hoping for a big tax refund this year, I'll take a look at things then. Sounds like I'm going to be all alone in ESP, save for Dennie's BMW and Ian's EVO. That's ok, I need to work on my skills before changing the car, though.

Well guys I'm officially screwed. I think the Mustang ate a cam today but I'm not sure. It hit a certain rpm and now it has a steady rhythmic misfire, shakes like a MOFO, and it burned oil bad for the first 20 minutes after. I think I found metal shavings in my oil too but I won't be sure til I drain it. :notnice:

I wouldn't jump to conclusions until after it is checked. A valve bending from hitting a piston or a head gasket blowing out from detonation makes the same type of miss and may also cause oil burning. I popped a head gasket on my Cobra a few years ago and it did exactly as you described.

Yeah I just rethought that and I don't think it's the cam anymore. The cam wouldn't have trashed itself in like 2 seconds flat, and then not gotten any worse during 30 minutes worth of driving. As far as the head gasket, I'm not sure. I still have to pull all the spark plugs and check. It burned oil initially but stopped after it was driven home. Its hard for me to believe a head gasket designed for nitrous/supercharged applications would blow on my little old NA motor...but then you never know. Car ran normal oil press. all the way home though and never passed 180-185 degrees coolant temp.

I found what LOOKS like dirt or shavings on my oil dipstick, so I'm draining my oil tomorrow to see what I find. I'll let you guys know. I couldn't imagine a head gasket or a busted valve giving me metal shavings, which is why I thought the cam. But like I said I'll check out what I can and post up tomorrow. Wish me luck. God it would be nice if it was only a head gasket, but man, I don't know....... We'll see.

Well I found my problem. The hardened guideplate sawed the non-hardened pushrod in half. All the other pushrods arent in much better shape. It was a disaster waiting to happen, and Gene won't do ***** about it because it was our fault we went cheap on it. Yeah, whatever. Hopefully the bearings are ok. In the mean time, I'm saving up to put new hardened pushrods in and to buy new guideplates. The piece on the bottom is the broken guideplate.

I don't think CP would want me with my "tubular frame" and all.

I haven't been on for awhile but I hope everyone had a good New Year's. Sorry to hear about the pushrods lackthereof. :(

So who would complain? Surely not I. :)

If you jump in CP that would make 4 of us this year.
