How come sometimes 1st gear doesn't pull at all?

I've noticed this since I got on my GT for the first time which is around 8 months ago. The thing that I"m curious about is how come when I take off sometimes in 1st, the car felt like it doesn't want to go? I can floor it and the RPM will just rise and the car doesn't want to go. It still does the same thing since I got my exhaust done but I rarely felt it. It accelerate just fine most of the time however.. I'm sure that this has been asked before, but still I want to know what caused this. Is it normal? Thanks

i've noticed the same thing  but i haven't driven it in a month cause it's at ford getting the tranny fixed  not to scare you or anything, but that could have been part of the problem  i guess i'll find out someday, whenever i get my car back  i'll let you know when i get it back if it's still doing it (i think they are replacing 1st & 2nd gear, 2 gear syncro, shift fork & there are two other things but i can't remember them right now)

Mine would fall it face sometimes, well... most of the time, when I had my MAF rotated with the plug towards the engine. I had it towards the passenger fender and that was too lean and threw a light. Right in the middle on top was just right. A leak above the MAF probably would probably make it fall on its face too.

If you say it only happens sometimes? Make sure your car is up to normal op temp. If the thermostat is closed then the comp will retard the timing. Try that and let me know. :flag:

hmmm........ i didn't know that. it's been so long since i've driven mine i can't remember whether or not that's when mine had the problem, but i think it is. i'll check it out whenever i get my car back from ford. thanks :nice:

You haven't gotten on your car in 8 months. Woooowzers, either your car is neglected or my car is abused. I get on my car every other day. Oh yaaaa!!!!!
Gears might help your problem. With the stock gears it just might be bogging down because it takes a while for your car to get into it's powerband. Then again depending on the temperature and humidity of the air it can make the combustion process less efficient thus leading to poor performance. I've noticed a difference in performance on my car depending on the weather. A Steeda timing adjuster might help out too.
