I ordered that one and installed it a few months ago and now it makes loud wooshing noises.

Hmmmm. I ordered one, but have not used it yet. Maybe the bearing is bad.

I asked about this in a thread and it was 2-0 in favor of it. I'll try again to see if I can solicit some more opinions.

Running without the idler pulley is not such a good idea, its there for a reason, at high rpms it keeps the belt from deflecting and resonating. Have someone rev your car to about 5 grand and stand out there and watch it.....I bet it bounces up and down like crazy!

All I did was go to a bearing supplier and buy new bearings for both my idler and tensioner pullies, they both use a very common and cheap 6203 bearing that I paid like 5 bucks for both..and then you just press the old one out and the new one in, SIMPLE.

speedworx.com has that pully and the power steering pully both in billet aluminum. The idler is around $80 and the power steering pully is $180. Yes, I think those prices are very steep but, just putting the info out there. :flag:

a whoosing noise, did you install it backwards? Only three people have had problems with my idlers, One bolted the pulley on backwards and locked it down to the bracket and the other two put them on the wrong vehicles, go figure. The snap ring faces forward. Anyway it would be proper to address the problem to me directly instead of me running across it in a forum. my email is [email protected]
cell # is 904-591-5803 (btw:1/14/03 phone charger is lost, should be up and running 1/15/03
Customer service is still around. Here is what I mean:
If your idler is not what you expected and it is my fault, send that thing back and I will replace it. just pay ship. I have yet and I mean I have yet to find a bad idler to this day that was due to manufacturing problems, only due to incorrect installation, and/or bolting it to a chevy! But, trying to be humble, I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt and make good on any mistakes.
