Who makes the wider rims for the 03 Cobra

My 03 Cobra with chrome factory rims just ad a sidewall bubble out like a basketball, so I'm going to upgrade to the wider rear rims.
Here are my questions:

-What size are the stock ones ...17x9?
-Are the replicas 17x10.5?
-Who makes them?
-What do they cost in chrome?
-Do they truly look stock?
-If anyone here has them, how do they fit with a 315/35/17 tire?
-I hear a spacer is required, is this true? What size spacer?
I'll shop tomorrow, but I need to research this quick because I need to buy tomorrow.

thanks,
Vic

-What size are the stock ones ...17x9?
* Yes.
-Are the replicas 17x10.5?
* Yes.
-Who makes them?
* AFS http://www.afswheels.com/v2/
-What do they cost in chrome?
* From AFS directly: 17X10.5 = $299.75 ea. 18X10.5 = 423.75
* From Ebay you can get them much cheaper.
-Do they truly look stock?
* Yup! If you put the stock SVT centercap in there no one will know.
-If anyone here has them, how do they fit with a 315/35/17 tire?
* Loaded question! What brand of 315? Not all 315's are the same. Nitto's 315's fit great, but are not as wide as say the BFG 315's.
-I hear a spacer is required, is this true?
* Yes/No. If you go with 18's a spacer isn't required. If you stick with 17's then a spacer of some type is required. With my Nitto 315's all I had to do was swap the stock IRS bolt out with a button head bolt. Stock bolt has a large protruding head that will scrape the inner sidewall of a Nitto 315 when the suspension is fully unloaded. Some guys have just ground down the stock bolt. I got a pair of button head bolts from J96Gordan over on SVTPerformance.com. If you go with a different brand 315 from someone other than Nitto you may need a hub spacer for additional clearence. Again, there is a guy over on SVTPerformance.com that has been the focal point on some hubcentric spacers. Do a search over there on Undy & spacers. You may also require some extended reach lug nuts for added safety. Again, it all depends on what tire brand 315 you put on that 10.5 rim.
What size spacer?
* Some guys a running a 3/8 inch spacer, others are running a 7/32 spacer and then also shaving the IRS bolt.

Thanks...nice to see you answer questions as completely as I do.

The sidewall blew out on one of my stock rear tires and I know they aren't going to warranty it because it has 3,000 miles on it and it's 1/2 gone already.....

If anyone has a set of AFS 17x10.5 rears with tires for sale, let me know.

thanks,

Vic

you HAVE to have a spacer for the 17x10.5??? I rarely hear of this....the only issue I have heard of is the tail pipes being in the way???? Am I missing something?

Depends on the size tire and ride height of your car.
Stock height + 17x10.5's + 99% of 315 tires require a spacer and/or shaved IRS bolt and/or massaging IRS bracket with a sledge hammer.
Lowered cars have more clearance.
I'm running stock height, AFS 17x10.5s with 285/40 GS D3's with a shaved bolt and the fit is perfect even with the suspension fully unloaded.

so basically...depends on the car. Clearance seems to vary with identical setups on different cars.

uncle meat you are almost 100% correct

not all BFG 315's rub on stock rims. ricks 03 didnt rub.... these cars are wierd thats all i got to say. what works on some wont work on others....

You mean he's running AFS 17X10.5 rims, with a BFG 315 tire, and NO modification to the IRS bolt or any type of spacer? No rub even when suspension is fully unloaded? Not doubting you...just want to make sure I got my info correct is all....

I have 17x10.5 wheels with Nitto 315's but I haven't put them on yet due to the shyt weather out here, I'll just see how mine goes when I put them on, I hate spacers so I'm sure I can mend something to make it fit if I run into an issue ;)
