Have you ever had your water pump pulley rub on the crank damper? I went out today to find a noise and it turns out that my top of the line :notnice: hypertech pulley was the cause. But of course if you call Orielly's at 8:35 pm to get a factory pulley everything is a dealer part :bs:.

What would a possible solution be, short of buying a new set?

how in the world is that happening? the water pump pulley should be in line with the crank pulley, not the harmonic balancer... so i don't see how they can be touching each other

you could upgrade to a romac balancer which is a little smaller diameter than the stock POS... but that's like $225 or so (although you should do it eventually, anyway)...

From what I can tell is that the water pump pulley is too deep. I found out this was the problem when I removed the belt and started the motor. When it was running the two were rubbing to the point that the water pump was spinning. From what I can figure is that I need to replace that one pulley with one that isnt as deep.

I wish I could afford a romac that would be nice.

i had the same problem. it was just the lip of the water pump pulley those and ground off in about 5 min. still have a lip on there cause i know one is supposed to be there but i just had to shave off a tiny bit
