my setup is in my signiture. i just got it running with the 24lb injectors in it, and the new pro-m mass air meter.. it didnt run perfect before. but now it runs 5x worse. popping in my xpipe worse idle. etc. would a aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator fix this? or should i just adjust my timing etc?

im going to be installing a msd ignition setup tomorrow. will that help?
msd distributor, digital 6plus box, blaster 2 coil, plug wires.

i know i need one either way. but just trying to figure out how high of a priority it should be. so far #1 = new clutch/flywheel, #2 new fuel pump

input is appreciated, thanks

Try unplugging your battery to reset the computer, takes about 10 min, something doesnt sound right. When you replaced your maf, the adj fpr shouldnt matter, your stock setup should support them just fine. You can try resetting your timing, but it shouldnt have changed from just those simple mods.

well, its not tunable. theres nothing wrong with it though. My car seems to run best with 44 psi, while most cars like about 38 or so. everycar is going to be different. I wouldnt put it as top priority. #1 would be fuel pump, #2 clutch, #3 AFPR

btw how does it run without the rear swaybar? jus wonderin.

whats your timing set at?

my mechanic friend had it up on his lift, and said it had no swaybars. i havent looked myself.
but, hey. seams to run good to me, handles nicely. very stiff.

on another note. my car seams to be running very rich. idles funny. sounds like its harder for the engine to fire. hard to explain. the tone is different, not as smooth. more lumpy.ish  and i smell gas in the exhaust it seams

could by fuel pressure regulator be getting old, and making it run rich? or just.. not strong enough spark? im going to be putting a whole bunch of msd ignition parts on today hopefully. maybe that will help? msd digital 6 box, msd wires, msd blaster coil.

what do you all think?

:rlaugh: the reason you smell gas and exhaust fumes is because you have a B-cam...something about that cam (duration) that makes people smell like gas after they get out of the car...now back to your original question...you can run the stock fuel pressure regulater...the FORD tech is right, however, you can't tune it as someone already said...which means you can't raise or lower the fuel pressure...Now if your're going to buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and run it with stock fuel pressure than its pointless. How much timing are you running? This would also explain why the car may seem like a dog. This could be why you hear the popping...is your Pro-M calibrated for the 24# injectors? a better coil or an ignition system...I recommend crane HI-6 would benefit you as well. BTW: are you running the correct spark plugs for those heads? Just a thought. :flag:

i put in some autolite 26(?)'s i think, whichever was stock  .. not very long ago. i dont know what my timing is at. i adjusted a day or two ago. couldnt get that smooth of a idle.
im putting in a MSD Digital 6-Plus box, MSD 8.5mm Superconductor wires and separators, and MSD Blaster 2 iginition coil.

what sparkplugs should i run with these trick flow heads anyway?

i took my passenger seat out, its in the garage now, im about to modify it so i can mount my msd box underneath it really cleanly. had to clip that wire for the seat to move forward/back. gunna have to make a little bracket so it runs higher under the seat and doesnt hit the box. :D

get a adjustable Fuel pressure regulator and gauge. You can play with the pressure to remove the popping in the intake or exhaust. I had that problem this past spring after I did the H/C/I on mine. I went to a dyno and we tested the air fuel ratio in the exhaust. Come to find out my combo was too lean. Now runs great at 42psi. A little tuning at a dyno could really help.
