MagnaPak or SLP Loudmouth?

Another vote for the Packs! They sound great, you will always get compliments, and you will always have a huge smile on your face! Yes I am biased because I have never head the SLP in person, but for the $300 that I paid, I know why I don't want to hear em either!!

i just installed the magnapack catback on my 96 cobra yesterday. i think that it sounds kinda like a truck myself, being that they are of a glasspack type design. within one hour of putting them on, i got a disturbing the peace citation :bang: . not good. but i do notice top end really opening up, and while it is loud at low rpms, it quiets down at higher revs. dont even think about dumping them, they are loud enough on the inside. and make sure they send you the correct hangers on the mufflers, cause mine didnt fit up right on the passenger side. :D

I never heard of SLP catbacks. Who makes them? Someone in here said that the Chevy people put them on their vehicles. Are SLP catbacks more popular with the Chevy cars? And are they louder than the MagnaPack Catbacks? I am going to be in the market to buy a catback for my 2001 GT during the summertime and I have been leaning towards the Magnapacks. But now after hearing about the SLP being louder, I am thinking about getting the SLP. The only problem is that I have never heard of SLP catbacks. I haven't seen any other thread in here talk about or rate the SLP catbacks. Please give me more information on the SLP comparing them with the Magnapacks. Thanks.

I just got my SLP xpipe + catback..I love them...gotta love LOUD mustangs !!!...u like NASCAR ?..u will like SLP..top notch quality too...easy to mount too according to the muffler shop....in amy case u cannot go wrong: slp or magnapacks are straight throug h mufflers...I like SLP modularity (sp?)..+ I plan on getting their headers too :)

SLP is a company who's previous cliental was the GM F-body market. Now that GM has given up on all F-bodies SLP in order to stay in business is crossing over to the Blue Oval. The SLP Loudmouth system is there cat-back system for the mustang. MM&FF did an install of the SLP system in the Jan '04 issue if you want to read about it. The article clames 11 hp & 5 lb-ft from the system. Like most are saying the two seem about the same. I could care less really about the performance improvments I just want the loudest one. Price is almost the same. The other product that SLP has that is really catching my interest is there X-pipe because the MM&FF article says you can take off the front pipes from the X-pipe to later install long tubes. I like that idea. But so far my tally of the forum seems to point me to MagnaPaks. And correct me if I'm wrong but resonators have fiberglass in them so therefore the SLP system does have fiberglass then right?

Take it from one who installed and has an SLP Loudmouth system on there car. The quality, fit and finish was outstanding. The sound is awesome with longtubes and a high flow catted h-pipe. As for as fiberglass in the resonator , that guy is full of sh**t. If you know anyone who has one, put the ring test to it. Packs have a deeper sound when tapping it because of the stainless mesh or acoustical material they use. The SLP's have a higher pitch to them because there is no fiberglass what so ever in them. Research 304 SS on the net and see for yourself what a quality stainless steel they use. I know Mags use 304 for the tips only and use 300 SS for the rest of the catback. Also, I have heard people having problems with the tips coming loose because of there so called, "high quality product". For two hundred bucks less it's a no brainer. That alone got me very interested in SLP. I personally have heard both Magnapacks and Slp and they sound completely different. The maganaflows sound better. The Mpacks and Slp louds do sound tinny with a o/r x-pipe witch I don't care for. I am not affiliated with Slp in any way just a satisfied customer. Anyway, I thought I would give you a liitle more insight on Slp. Thanks, Steve
