Gatorback Belts

it should be very quiet.....

but i can tell you this, make sure that a gatorback is not rubbing against anything in the path of the belt drive. i've shredded 3 off my procharger and they were all within 24 hours of each other. it was rubbing against the blower bracket and i couldnt see it. finally found the problem. funny thing is, it never affected my regular ribbed belt at all, yet it shredded a gatorback after about 5 miles down the road...........funny.

hey my buddy has a gator back belt on his 96 gt and it has the same whine sound to it, and there seems to be no problems with his car, he's had it on for at least a year

I installed a Gatorback and have that same whistle. I thought the belt might be rubbing on something, but after 3000 miles no excess wear is apparent. Sounds like I have a blower under the hood :D

Take your belt off and put some belt dressing on it. Thats makes it go away. Also, gatorbacks are bad about whining if you have not run your car for a few weeks. They just need to be removed and lubed with belt dressing. Belt dressing NOT recommended for supercharger apps. because it causes slippage. On a N/A engine, it will be fine, because tons of friction is not necessary on the belts like a supercharger.

My car sat for a week because it was stuck in the driveway form all the snow. When I finally got it out, the belt squealed. i just sprayed some silicone lubricant on it and the squeal went away.

I had a gatorback belt on and noticed a whining noise, so I took it in to get it looked at. The dealership said my alternator pully was going bad, so they replaced it under warranty and put a stock belt back on. It fixed the whining noise anyway.

"I got the same prob but a think it might be the T-trim its wrapped around"

Lol, I have the same problem, But I do think that the design of the gatorbacks cause then to make a little whining noise. I installed one on my parents 4.6 t bird when I replaced the alternator. It made the same noise. I thought it was kind of cool.
