Anybody have any idea where to put a magnetic XM antenna on a 99-up mustang and be able to get the wire inside the car without looking like azz. Remember the back deck lids are fiberglass on these years. I got the XM commander and it came with a small magnetic mount antenna. Any info would be great. Thanks.

The only place where I can think that you are able to put a magnetic antenna is on the roof of your car. The fiberglass trunk will make it impossible for you to put a magnetic antenna on it. Just pass the wire outside the side window on to the edge or the middle of the roof of your Mustang. Unless you want to drill a hole in the roof in order to not have the wire visible outside the car. I don't know what else you can do or how else you can do it.

if it'll work on the rear deck then i would try using some velcro to hold it in place. Let me explain. Obvioulsy there are two pieces to velcro: one is softer kinda like rug and the other is the harder bristle type that catches the looser fibres from the first piece. Now try attaching just the harder bristle piece of the velcro to the bottom of the antenna and see if it will stick to the carpet fibers of the rear deck lid. Hopefully it will work and that way its not outside the car and also its not permanent or drilling any holes. On the magnet part and not sticking to the trunk, since when are our trunks fiberglass??? Aren't they sheet metal. I see most cars just stick their antenna to the trunk. But I would also prefer it inside the vehicle.

Well the instructions say that if you don't attach the magnetic antenna to metal, it won't get good reception. The XM commander comes with a really small antenna and I was thinking about just using velcro or double sided tape and putting it on the trunk just after the trunk opening. And, yes our trunks are fiberglass. You can tell from looking at the inside. But, I think my antenna might need to use the metal of the car because it's just a 1 wire antenna and I think that it might use the car itself as more of an antenna. Not exactly sure.

If your doing your own installation, you could try a few locations and then hide the wires after you are satisfied with the signal quality. Inside on the rear deck should work in Florida unless you have tinted windows.

You could try outside, next to the trunk deck, on the passenger side if you want to mount it on metal.
