hey guys....i'm getting ready to put together a 306 in my 86.... and i was wondering which connecting rod wrist pin would be the best ....pressed type or the floating....it's mostly going to be a daily driver.... isn't the floating type the one that slides in and uses a retaining clip on each end?.... thanks for any help....

daily use, you really wouldnt need the floating type. the main benefit some of us use the floating (bushed) is if you are constantly inside the motor checking tolerances and switching out alum. rods before reaching stress (fatigue) limits on high dollar high HP motors with ultra light rotateing assemblys.

Loose is HP!! Free floating is better than pressed, but "metal to metal" , just opening the small end of the rod , will cause some premature wear on the pin!! Having the rod end "bushed" is the better way!! the bronze bushing will actually soften the ign and last a long time!! Check the cost of all three and weigh that against the HP gains..
