Traction problem at track, what should the car run

I had a real bad time hooking up. The 60ft ranged anywhere from 2.3 to 2.5 and the 1-2 shift was messy, once I almost lost control and went into the wall, I just had trouble intill I hit third. The frustrating thing was that I could not floor the first 2 gears. Anyways my 1/8th mile times were 9.3 to 9.5 at 77-78 mph. Once i got traction in third I really started to pull because I would finish with a 14.1-14.2 at 101. I know my car is making power, what could it run if I pulled a 2.0 to 2.1 60ft and was able to shift hard without breaking them loose?

What are your mods? Can you post the time slips? If your MPH is accurate, you should be in the mid-high 13s with traction.

The car is a 00GT 5-speed with offroad xpipe, k&n, accufab plenum and 70mm throttle body?. I cant really post the time slips becasue I dont have a scanner, sorry. By the way it was at famosa raceway in California.

I'm running the kumho 712's 265/40/17 on 17x9 cobra r's. I'm leaving the line at 1800rpm but the problem is that I'm still spinnin in most of 2nd, and chirping them in third.

those kumhos are pretty hard tire. are you trying to heat them up or driving around the water box and cleaning them off. you should invest in set of drag radials for the rear. 275/40/17 and you will see the times drop.

I run a very similiar setup, or I used to. I had an off road X with MAC muffs, running on 245/40ZR18 Kumhos and found them to be decent, but not great. I was able to rip off a 2.2 60' and grab a [email protected]. You have a few more mods, so I stand by my mid-high 13s.

best i've been able to run is a 2.2 60' on 275/40/17 kuhmo ecsta 712's.
like 7 runs

they suck
no sidewall is no fun
