I have a 2003 GT and I am wanting to purchase a stereo that requires a direct fused connection to the battery. I'm not to familiar with the GT's set up so I'm wondering what it takes to do this. I really do not want to take the car apart other than the stereo section. Has anyone done this if so what all has to be taken apart? Thanks!!

i dont know if im getting what your saying. if you want to put an aftermarket HU in your car you can just buy a wiring harnes that will plug into the on that pluged into your factory HU and connect to the wires that go to the new HU. that would be easier then running a wire to the battery. ANDY

This particular stereo I'm wanting requires direct connection to the battery. Below is what is listed on the description on the stereo.
Alpine CDA-9815 -V-Drive hybrid MOSFET60 internal amp ? high-current draw requires direct fused connection to your battery

I did on my friend's ranger(same HU). I just got some 8ga.(10ga. is fine) power cable, fuse holder, and 2 ring terminals. Just connect the power cable to the positive post on the battery like you would when installing an amp, run the fuse about 6-8" from the post, and run the cable through the firewall. There's a grommet about 8" or so from the driver's side fender on the firewall you can run it through. Then all you need to do is route the cable from the grommet in the firewall behind the dash. Then just solder or crimp the cable onto the HU's wiring harness(yellow wire). You also need to upgrade the ground wire, don't just use the factory ground. Just use about 6" of the cable, and ground it behind the dash. There's a bracket that holds the factory amp right underneath the HU, behind the cig. lighter. There's a couple screws holding it in, one on either side. If you take peel back the carpet on either side, you can unscrew one of them and connect the ground there, using the second ring terminal.

I did kindof the same thing as bbrinks is talking about except i i put the ring terminal on the bolt where the battery cable hooked into my fuse box it made it cleaner cause the cover covered it right up. Then ran the wire like he was saying.
