New Forum for Stangnet?

  • Sponsors (?)

haha...alright enough bashin on me...thanks fellas. I'm not workin on this car alone I have plenty of sources that know more about cars than anyone I've met. So i'm not worried about MY skill level. Sounds like a great learning experience for me and I'm down with that. Now you all need to just settle down and let me say what i want and just give me a nice, simple "ok if thats how you feel go for it" thanks for the moral boosts

One forum makes more sense. The "purists" like SD have lots of good advice and knowledge to share. If you are getting into "arguments" online, just be big enough to put down the keyboard and walk away for a day or two. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the thread poster has asked for those opinions. It is never personal, unless someone shows up at your house....

A lot of people didn't even want a talk forum, forget any more of them. There is nothing but positive that can come from an experienced stanger telling another that what he might be attempting isn't a good idea. The person can still attempt it and/or ignore the experienced one completely, but the point is that that opinion and advice at leasts exists.

Plus, I don't think there enough people that would fall into the "stock as a rock" category.

I found this interesting so I posted a poll in the Classic Talk section. Please go vote... It should be interesting to see the ratio here...

It's not so much caring if it goes back, but if the car is worth 10k 20 years from now modded, and 250k in 20 restored, there's a lot more profit in not having to remove and reweld things. I think that's the way SD sorta views it. If you're putting in a 347, T5, and TTII wheels, you can always put back a 302, 3-speed, and some styled steel wheels. If you've gutted the floor and built an entirely new 2x3 chassis with air bags and such, it's just too much to go back. But on another hand, if it's a '65 I-6 coupe that has the floor totally rusted out and the front clip is smashed and you're Pro Streeting it and putting a 1 piece 'glass clip and doors on it and welded some new far east quarters on it that have have the wells stretched, you've basically brought a car back, but if you're doing that to a K-code coupe, or an original Trans Am Shelby notch, you're sorta destroying history. Does that make any sense?

Absolutely. I got my car and it had already been converted to a shelby clone. Non-original engine or tranny. I had no plans to restore it original. Although I consider it restomod, I have not done anything to it that someone later could not restore it back to original if so inclined. I understand Daves point of view. He is a purist. My next project(if I'm lucky enough) is to find a car worth restoring as original. But I won't put the money into it unless it is worth going original.

If you want someone to hold your hand and explain how it can be done you'd be better off reading the magazines and study the pictures.:

Actually, your rule about reading the ford manual is better than the mags here. If you pick up a 1965-1973 Ford manual, it will answer alot of the questions I see here. While not directly covering a swap, it will tell you how to remove and install every piece needed to do a swap from six to eight. All you need is a parts list on what needs to be upgraded.

Since when does a disagreement become an arguement? I sometimes disagree with my wife but I don't argue with her. (We've been happily married for 42 years).

As previously observed. a forum is a place for free discussion of ideas and issues; both positive AND negative. If we separate into specialized interest, age and experience groups, the result would be disasterous for the young, underfunded and inexperienced who often see disagreement as ARGUEMENT.

Talk about the blind leading the blind........ There are enough of us here that have to maturity, money, experience, skill, tools, discipline, etc. to add perspective to many of the discussions. If we were to go away, do you REALLY think this would be a better place?

PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION.

how about instead of a RESTOMOD forum they make a StreetRace forum where you can tell or show your mustang smoking helpless ricers and camaros on the street... eh? eh? :nice:

They had that on the vette forum but they closed it down cause their lawyer said it left them open to lawsuits for promoting illegal activity. Plus people were having more than one username and starting Sh** by posing as a cobra owner, or honda owner and talking about how many vettes they were blowing away. Something similar would probably happen here. They even had a forum for a while to post pics of women in bikinis and a lot of times topless. Killed that too cause of family values. :(
