Ok I got 40 series Flowmasters installed today on my 98 GT and they are louder than my Borlas but not loud enough. What is my next step to get the deeper/louder sound? X-Pipe, H-Pipe. Are they easy to install and are they easy to take off since I still am under the extended warranty? What one would you recommend and what brand?

Thanks.

Not all X-pipes sound the same. If you don't want to spend $450 to buy an offroad Dr Gas, and have it welded and installed, go with a UPR offroad X for $139.99. Sounds great, very deep and macho below 2400rpm, and exotic above that. Sounds like a p!ssed off dragon roaring or something.

Certain X-pipes will sound like poop, becuase of where and how the X is designed, but others will sound great. H-pipes sound good, but a little too boring and way too poppy above 3000rpm IMO.

Definately an X. I was once where you are debating between X & H. I finally said fock it & went with the X since it is so popular than the H. Everyone says that an X sounds like crap with chambered muffler (flowmaster). WRONG!!! Don't believe what they say. I got the Magnaflow X w/ cats & worth every cent. Spent $450 parts & $70 labor. I know it's pricey but trust me you'll love every minute of it. Nice quality piece. Head turns everywhere I go now. If you think the 2 chambers are loud, this will make it even louder. Everytime I start my car in the cold mornings, I swear the neighbors just want to kick my car. LOL.

I'm fairly new to mustangs, so I dont have the knowledge that alot of people on this board have but I just recently installed a Mac Offroad H Pipe on my 98 GT. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the sound. Its noticeably faster and even with the stock mufflers, turns heads and get "thumbs up" all the time. I love it

You can't go wrong with the UPR X-pipe. For $154-shipped, it has been one of the best "bang for the buck" mods I've done. Sounds great, fitment was good, and the price was right. I originally had a Mac o/r H-pipe and the fitment was poor although it sounded nice with the Spintechs I had at the time.

Where do you get the UPR X-Pipe for $154? Thanks.

my upr sounds totally mean when going through downtown. it's funny to watch people turn to see what all the noise is comming from. :D :D

Did you do your yourself? What is needed after install? This does eliminate all cats so what is needed. I heared about something called a mil eliminator? What is it? Thanks.

no, I just took my car to a small muffler & lub shop and they installed it for $60. took about an hour. BUT most main shops won't do O/R pipes, because no cats is illegal according to most muffler shops. so they will not install them.

after the install, I heard them start my car up and bring it out of the bay.OMG it sounded like a beast. the guy at the counter complemented how wicked it sounded :D :D

Then I ordered the Mil eliminator from (Dallas Mustang)$59.97 and hooked them up.They plug into you REAR 02 sensors
just follow the instructions. very simple. you will have to file one of the tabs, but thats it. It's just a plug in type of deal :nice:
